From the Knoxville News Sentinel 15 Sep 2005 DEERING, JANIE BRITT - 56, of Oak Ridge HAMILTON, GLADYS M. - age 91 of Mesa, AZ, formerly of LaFollette, DEERING, JANIE BRITT - 56, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 of injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born June 1, 1949 in Indiana, the daughter of Eugene and Letha Stuart Britt, who are both deceased. Mrs. Deering was a homemaker and a member of the Knoxville 1st Seventh Day Adventist Church. She and her husband, Rudy D. Deering, by whom she is survived, served as foster care parents for many years. Mrs. Deering had also worked as a volunteer children's advocate with CASA of Anderson County for several years. Mrs. Deering and her husband would have celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on September 15th. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: son, Jay Britt and wife Wanda of Cosby; stepsons, Scott Deering and wife Kim of Lenoir City and Todd Deering and wife Amy of Knoxville; aunts, Ella Kate Harrell and husband Wayne of Jefferson City and Hazel Stiffler of Newport; and 4 grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob, Stephanie and Jay Britt, of Cosby and 3 step-grandchildren, Nick Leahey of Lenoir City and Otto and Phoebe Deering of Knoxville. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 5:00 pm at the Knoxville 1st Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3611 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, with Pastor Will Johns officiating. Hamilton; parents, Grover & Ella Meredith; brother, Bart Meredith; sisters, Irene Gibson & Azilee Duncan. Survivors: son & daughter-in-law, Tony & Peggy King Hamilton, Mesa, AZ; sister, Shirley Lay, Cincinnati, OH; several nieces & nephews. Funeral service 8 pm Friday Cross Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. Family & friends will meet at Valley View Cemetery in Elk Valley 10 am Saturday for graveside service & interment.
