He attended High School at Campbell County Comprehensive High School. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Alma "Pat" Bruce; grandfather, George Ray Adams. He was retired from the US Army having served two tours in Germany, two tours in Korea, and a tour in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerrilynn; parents, Joe and Mary McCarty Beeler; sisters, Joyce Martin and Judy Sharp; brother, Wonnie Beeler. Flossie Mae Brown, age 84 of Lake City passed away Sept. 3 at the home of her daughter, son-in-law and grandson where she had been living since June. She was born Oct. 12, 1920 in Morgan County to the late Ben and Mary Inez Brummitt Mitts. She was of the Church of God faith. She attended the Lake City Mountain Assembly Church of God, Lick Creek Holiness Church and the Jellico Highway Holiness Church. She loved sewing, quilting, canning and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Brown; sisters, Naomi Mitts and Flora Sparks; brothers, Robert Mitts, Frank Lutner and Arthur Lutner. She was born June 21, 1924 and grew up in Enville, TN. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, where she met her future husband Charles Henry Russell, Jr. (CJ) and moved to LaFollette in 1946. She was an active member of the LaFollette United Methodist Church. She loved her flowers and gardening and her circle of friends. She was a member of the LaFollette Town and Country Garden Club, former member of the Garden Guild Garden Club, American Rose Society Judge, former National Garden Club, Inc., and nationally accredited Flower Show Judge. She was also a member of the Campbell County Historical Society and the LaFollette Book Club. Most importantly, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles H. Russell, Jr. (CJ); daughter, Elizabeth Ann Russell; parents, Dr. and Mrs. Gilbert Howell; brothers, Carl, Earl, and James Howell; sisters, Lena Mae Pruitt, Martha Howell and Etta Howell. He was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was ordained as Elder and served as trustee. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1943, the University of Tennessee in 1948 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked as a broker in the investment industry for 45 years with Elliot Adams, Davidson and Company, Cherokee Securities, Hilliard Lyons and Merrill Lynch. During his career, he served on the Board of Directors of the East Tennessee Children's Hospital for 27 years, where he acted as treasurer. He also served with other charitable organizations and was a member of Cherokee Country Club and the Men's Cotillion. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Marshall Schmid and his parents, Adolph Albert and Helen Dempster Schmid.
