OLIVER SPRINGS: James Ralph King, 80 ZUHR, MRS. FLORENCE ANNA VANECEK ZUHR, MRS. FLORENCE ANNA VANECEK - passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tennessee at the age of 98. Mrs. Zuhr was born in New York City on April 5, 1907, the daughter of Frank and Mary Vanecek, and lived most of her life in that area. She was married at Tremont Terrace Moravian Church in Bronx, NewYork on June 5, 1930 to John Paul Zuhr, who preceded her in death in 1978. After marrying she lived for 50 years in Scarsdale, New York, where she was active in the Scarsdale Congregational Church, before moving to East Tennessee in 2000. Mrs. Zuhr was an ardent bridge player and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels until reaching her 90's. She is survived by her son, Ray Zuhr of Loudon, TN; sister-in-law, Edith Zuhr of Mahwah, New Jersey; grandchildren, Erica of Oak Ridge, TN, Jennifer of Camden, ME, and Chris of Knoxville, TN. Grandma's love and caring spirit will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in Florence's name to the Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Tennessee Chapter, 600 Henley Street, Suite 50, Knoxville, TN 37902. The family will receive friends at Weatherford Mortuary on Saturday, October 1, 2005 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.
