From the Oak Ridger 20 sep 2005 Doris Binford, 88, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge, Geraldine Henderson Jackson, 73, of Oak Ridge, Michele Mann Martin, 57, of Oak Ridge, Doris Binford, 88, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005. Doris was born March 30, 1917, in Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and graduated with a degree in economics in 1939. She later met and married her adoring husband Frank. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Oak Ridge, where they remained happily married for 39 years. Doris was known for her love of dancing, golf and bridge and was talented at all three. She spent the last few years of her life in Orlando, Fla., where she could be close to her daughter, Amanda Thomas and grandchildren, Robyn and Ben Thomas. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 212 N. Tulane Ave. in Oak Ridge, with a reception to follow in the undercroft. Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. Geraldine Henderson Jackson, 73, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born July 26, 1932, in Ragland, Ala., the daughter of Eddis Abner Henderson and Lavada White Henderson, both of whom are deceased. Mrs. Jackson was a member of and employed by Central Baptist Church, where she worked for over 25 years as the pastor's secretary. She was very active in many aspects of the church, including serving as Director of Women of Worth ministries, participating in Circle of Friends, the Mommy to Mommy program, which she founded, the Christian Women's Job Corp, and International Ministries, and she also taught numerous Bible studies. She enjoyed membership at the Paragon Health Club, took great joy in cooking and sewing, and thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their lgames and other activities. She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Jackson, with whom she would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary, Feb. 8, 2006; son, Scott Jackson and wife Michelle of Oliver Springs; daughter, Cherie Allen and husband Leon of Eureka, Mo.; brothers, Benny Henderson and wife Maxine of Lenoir City and Rudolph Henderson and wife Ruby of Ragland, Ala.; five grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas and Travis Allen, all of Eureka, Mo., and Garrett and Morgan Jackson of Oliver Springs; and several nieces and nephews in Tennessee and Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Gray officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, c/o Jerri Melhorn-Amonett, 104 Antioch Drive, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or Central Baptist Church, 130 Providence Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Michele Mann Martin, 57, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Liverpool, N.Y., the daughter of John T. and Muriel Haze Mann. Mrs. Martin had worked for many She enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many sport activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Mann, and sister, Virginia Guereshi. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael O. Martin; sons, Scott Martin and wife Michelle of Oliver Springs, Jamey Martin of Oak Ridge, and Wayne Heller of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a sister, Annette Merz of Cicero, N.Y.; grandchildren, Macy and Evan Martin of Oliver Springs and Hannah Martin of Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Weatherford Mortuary. Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
