"NEHI" - age 84 of Lake City RUSSELL, SYLVIA - age 85, a resident of Wartburg, THOMPSON, PHILLIP DARIN - 40, of Oak Ridge, FOUST, ALMA N. "NEHI" - age 84 of Lake City, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2005 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was born December 8, 1920 in Scott County, Tenn. She was a member of the Cumberland View Baptist Church in Jacksboro, Tenn. She loved flowers, enjoyed cooking, reading her Bible, listening to gospel music and spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Lydia Byrd, husband, Wesley Foust, son, Terry "Botchie" Foust and brother, Donavan Byrd. Survivors: sons, Gerald Foust & wife, Lavon, Hiram, GA., Ricky Foust & wife, Tammy, Lake City, Pastor Mike Foust & wife, Freida, Lake City; daughters, Shirley Forner, Irving, TX, Sue Maples & husband, Robert, Valparaiso, Ind., Sharon Neal & husband, Vernon, Silver Point, Tenn.; brother, Kermit Byrd & wife, Louise, Lake City; sisters, Trelis Stevens & husband, Steve, Clinton, Tenn., Macel Kesterson, Lake City; daughter in law, Diane Foust, Lake City; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren. Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home. Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday September 25, 2005 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Larry Watts and Kenny Sharp officiating. RUSSELL, SYLVIA - age 85, a resident of Wartburg, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2005 at her home. She was born March 24, 1920 in Crowder, Oklahoma moving to Oliver Springs in 1937, living in Wartburg for the past 5 years. Mrs. Russell was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where she was actively involved with the Bible Print Ministry. She visited nursing homes and made afghans for many nursing home residents. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Alvin Russell; by parents, Robert Duncan and Amanda Jane Cook Duncan; and by a granddaughter, Cindy Scott. Survivors: daughters, Patsy Jo Carpenter & husband, Robert of Dayton, OH, Helen Kathryn Trimm and husband, Ed of Madison, VA, Judy Lynn Russell of Wartburg; grandchildren, Sheila Book, Steve Gergely, Donna, John and Frank Fox; great grandchildren, Alyssa Scott, Madeline Argue, Heather, Jennifer & Tiffany Book; brothers, Howell Duncan and wife, Mary Ruth of Oliver Springs, Paul Duncan of Oliver Springs; sister, Madge Duncan of Arkomo, OK; several nieces, nephews, extended family members & friends. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Saturday, September 24, 2005 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home with funeral service following at 8:00 pm, in the chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and graveside service will be held Sunday, September 25, 2005 at 2:00 pm, at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. THOMPSON, PHILLIP DARIN - 40, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, September 22, 2005 in Knoxville from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was born May 27, 1965 in Arkansas City, Kansas. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his father, David K. Thompson in 2000. He is survived by his mother and step- father, Sue and Roger Olson; his sister, Shea Thompson and her partner, Robin Tinberg and his niece, Layton, all of Oak Ridge; grandparents, Leonard and Rogene Groene of Arkansas City, KS; uncle, Larry Thompson and cousins, of Ponca City, OK; and aunt, Sara Wisecup and cousins of Minnesota. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2005 at 11:00 am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that memorials be made to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
