Henry Wesley Herrell, 58, of Clinton, Blanche Parker Thompson, 88, of Oak Ridge, Earnest Ward, 72, of Clinton, Tenn., Eunice Kempe Reynolds, 99, of Oak Ridge, Harold Everett Carpenter, formerly of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Bridgeton, N.J., died Dec. 16, 2005, at Laurel Center in Bedford, N.H. He was born March 12, 1924, in Booneville, Miss., the son of James and Idella Ross Carpenter. He grew up in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and moved to Oak Ridge in 1944. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and later worked at Seabrook Farms in Seabrook, N.J. as an agricultural engineer. He was employed for 20 years by Rutgers University. He was an extension specialist at the Rutgers research center in Centerton, N.J. At the time of his retirement, he was appointed to the position of professor emeritus. He had co-authored a publication on trickle irrigation. Mr. Carpenter was a member of Oliver Springs United Methodist Church in Oliver Springs, Tenn. and had been an active member of the New Jersey Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a board member of the Upper Deerfield Township Board of Education in Seabrook. He was also a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers and the N.A.R.F.E. Most dear to him had always been his family. He was a friend to all and will be sadly missed. The family includes his wife of 41 years, Joan Eckert Carpenter of Londonderry, N.H; three daughters, Andrea L. Carpenter of Clinton, Tenn., Elizabeth M. Chaulk of Manchester, N.H., and Jennifer A. Barlow of Knoxville, Tenn; a sister, Gladys M. Carpenter of Oliver Springs, Tenn; his grandson, Brendan Riley Chaulk of Manchester; and by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Oak Ridge. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to Keystone Elder Day Center, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematory in New Hampshire are in charge of arrangements. Henry Wesley Herrell, 58, of Clinton, passed away Dec. 28, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He attended Farmers Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Herrell. Mr. Herrell is survived by his father, Paul E. Herrell; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Kendall Brady; a niece and three nephews, Pam Ivey and husband, Steve, Steve Brady and wife, Sue, Mark Brady and wife, Karin, and Nathan Brady; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, in the chapel of Weaver Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Watson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Bell's Campground Cemetery. Blanche Parker Thompson, 88, of Oak Ridge, died Monday, December 26, 2005, at Windwood Health and Rehab in Clinton. Ms. Thompson was born December 27, 1916, in Loudon County, to Amos and Mattie Parker. She was retired from Union Carbide Corporation, where she was a secretary. Along with her parents, Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by her son, James Hubert Thompson in 2002 and her sister, Helen Weston. Survivors include a brother, James Christy Parker of Oak Ridge; her sister, Faye Parker Yelton of Greenback, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Tresa Batson and her husband, Mark, of Powell, Kara Allison and her husband, David, of Memphis; three great-granddaughters, Emma Batson and Jamie Batson, both of Powell, and Claire Allison of Memphis, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2006, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with Rev. Steve McDonald officiating. An online memorial guest book may be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com. Earnest Ward, 72, of Clinton, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born June 5, 1933, in Anderson County, he was the son of Haskell and Elizabeth Braden Ward. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Ward enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, and thoroughly enjoyed nature. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby, and a sister, Bertha Jones. Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Cherree Ward of Clinton; two sons, Ernest Buck Ward and his wife, Claudia, of Clinton, and Billy Ward and his wife, Lisa, of Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Deborah Sentell of Clinton, and Brenda Price and her husband, John, of Chicago; two brothers, Virgil Ward of Lake City, Tenn. and Clay Ward of Clinton; a sister, Alice Fugate and her husband, Bill of Chicago; and by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in the chapel of Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City. A graveside service will be at noon Saturday, Dec. 31, at Brown's Flat Cemetery in Briceville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City is in charge of arrangements. Eunice Kempe Reynolds, 99, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, December 29, 2005, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
