From The Knoxville News Sentinel 4 Dec 2005 COMBS, ERNEST STEVEN "DOC" - age 77, of Oak Ridge HALL, JAMES A. - age 40 of Knoxville KITTS, SEIGLE - age 90 of Maryville formerly of Lake City COMBS, ERNEST STEVEN "DOC" - age 77, of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday December 1, 2005 at his residence. Mr. Combs was born July 8, 1928 in Salyersville, KY to the late Leslie and Gustava Combs. Mr. Combs received his B.S. degree from Western Kentucky University in Stern, KY and his Masters from Peabody University in Nashville. He retired in 1984 from the Oak Ridge School system as Band Director after 24 years of service. He was the director of the Oak Ridge Community Band and was a member of the Civitan, The National Band Association, and M.E.N.C. He enjoyed music and traveling, and attended the United Church Chapel On The Hill. His wife Marilyn Revare Combs of 56 years and a brother William Combs preceded Mr. Combs in death. He is survived by four daughters; Judy Evans and her husband John of Port St. Joe, FL, Vicki Rose of Athens, AL, Leslie Holman and husband Dave of Murfreesboro, TN, and Ginny Stevens and husband George of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters Betty Safis of Baxter, TN and Ginny Koppers of Cincinnati, OH; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 7, 2005 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-9 Monday at First United Methodist Church. He was manager of NAPA Auto Parts Store in Clinton, TN. Survived by parents James B. and Frances E. Hall; sister Debbie Presley; niece Christi A. Treece all of Knoxville. Funeral service 8 PM Monday Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 AM at Greenwood Cemetery Tuesday for interment service at 11 AM. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, 922-9195. KITTS, SEIGLE - age 90 of Maryville formerly of Lake City passed away Friday, December 2, 2005 at his home. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Maryville. He was a 59 year member of the Lions Club, and was a Veteran of WWII serving as a Flight Officer in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helmi Kitts; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Joe Styke of Maryville; daughter, Kristin Barge of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandson, Logan Styke of Maryville; nephew, Donnie Fritts of Douglasville, GA. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Main Street Baptist Church, Lake City with Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating. The interment will follow in Leach Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the church.
