He was the son of the late JAMES HENRY BYRD, Sr., and the late DAISEY REED BYRD and was also preceded in death by six brothers, DORSEY, OLIVER, BILL, DESTER, FINLEY, CHURCHEL; and three sisters, NORENE, BERETIE, and MINERVA. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, JEWELL HUGHETT BYRD; one daughter, JANET L. BANKS of Huntsville; two sons, JERRY LESTER BYRD and wife TONYA of LaFollette, and JIMMY LEE BYRD and wife MARY LEONA of Huntsville; one brother, JAMES HENRY BYRD, Jr. and wife LIZZIE of Huntsville; three sisters, ETHEL SEXTON and FLARA VANN of Huntsville, and NELLIE BAKER of Harrison, O.; three grandchildren, RICKY RAY and NATASHA LYNN BANKS of Huntsville, and JARED THOMAS BYRD of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 6, at 8 p.m. with Rev. LARRY SEXTON officiating. Special music was provided by the Mason Family. Burial was held on Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the Montgomery Cemetery. Four Oaks Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
