From The Oak Ridger 12 Dec 2005 Mary Lucille Bruce, age 88, of Knoxville, Laura Jean Erwin, 79, of Powder Springs, Ga., and formerly of Oak Ridge, Addie Cumi Jane Lawson, age 83, a resident of Oliver Springs, Mr. Frank Moran of Oak Ridge Mary Lucille Bruce, age 88, of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at the Harriman Care and Rehab Center. She was a member of the Solway Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Melton and Callie Woods Melton; her husband, Cyrus R. Bruce; her grandson, Joe Bruce; and two brothers, J.W. Melton and R.L. Melton. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Glois Bruce of Kingston; and her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Ray Vandergriff of Hixson, Tenn., and Donna and Tim Mosley of Solway; grandchildren, David and Cindy Bruce, Jimmy Carpenter and Cristy and Janie and Scott Bargerstock; her brothers, Eldred Melton of Waterloo, Ala., and Clyde Melton of Mishawaka, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. A very special thank you to her church family for all the visits. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the service to follow at 8 p.m. Pastor Bill Jackson will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Solway Church of God Cemetery. Laura Jean Erwin, 79, of Powder Springs, Ga., and formerly of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga. She was born Aug. 7, 1926, in Chattanooga, the daughter of Ida and Walter Marvin Hicks. Mrs. Erwin was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church. Before moving to Georgia in January of this year, she enjoyed participating in the activities of the Senior Citizens Center. in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands William Houston Thomas in 1968 and Robert Erwin in 1988. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Hicks and a sister, Polly Hicks. She is survived by a son, Frank Thomas and his wife Angela of Powder Springs, Ga.; brother, Walter Marvin Hicks Jr., of Chattanooga; and four grandchildren, Allison, Amanda, Sarah and Jennifer Thomas. Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Gray officiating. Graveside services were held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga Memorial Park with the Rev. Stan Braley officiating. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Susan G. Addie Cumi Jane Lawson, age 83, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Lawson was born April 5, 1922, in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of Oliver Springs. She was a member of Tuppertown Baptist Church and she was employed at both Emory 5 & 10 and Shepherds Discount Store. She also worked as a resident caregiver for Alice Davis. Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, Wes Lawson; by her parents, William Suttles and Maude Ella Brummett Suttles; by two brothers, John Henry Suttles and Herbert Brummett; and by two sisters, Dorothy Shoopman and Anna Belle Graves. Survivors include her daughters, Louise Tinker and husband Lowell of Coalfield, Barbara Owens and husband Ron of Knoxville, Maxine Heidle and husband Stanton of Wartburg, Fayetta Lawson of Wartburg; Evelyn Lawson of Oliver Springs, Janice Lawson of Oliver Springs, and Gail Walker and husband Bobby of Wartburg; sons, Wilburn Lawson and wife Ingrid of Atlanta, Ga., William Lawson and wife Judy of Oliver Springs, Rex Lawson of Wartburg, Don Lawson and wife Pat of Oliver Springs, and Bobby Lawson of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Thomas Tinker, James Tinker, Tammie Newton, Sonya Denise Compton, Joe Compton, Stanton Heidle II, Travis West Heidle, Ray Tinker, Scotty Tinker, Chastity Tinker, Jessica Davis Smith, Heather Davis, Kelly Davis, Rachel Davis, Robert Edward Walker II, Jeremiah Bradley Walker, Iurgen Lawson, Norma Hoy, Carmon Smith, Michelle Cornell, Wesley Adam Lawson, Billly Lawson, Tonya Phillips, Jackie Lawson, Sharon Lawson, Amber Lawson and Donald Lawson Jr.; 55 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James Billy Suttles of Union City, Ind.; sister, Mildred Harness and husband Dee of Somerville, S.C.; and sisters-in-law, Elsie Brummett of Harriman, and Cora Suttles of Oliver Springs. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Tuppertown Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Wilson, the Rev. Curtis Nolan and the Rev. Clyde Bass officiating. Mr. Frank Moran of Oak Ridge passed away at Briarcliff Health Care Center on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005. He was born as Francis James Moran in Grafton, W. Va., on Oct. 10, 1918. He was preceded in death by his beloved "Ree," Marie Moran, his wife of 43 wonderful years. Frank was an Oak Ridge resident since 1952 and worked for almost 30 years at K-25 as a chemical engineer, retiring in 1981. Mr. Moran was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oak Ridge. Frank is survived by his son, Bob and his wife, Booty of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Christy Thomas and her husband, Jim Thomas of Nashville, and Graham Chandler of Charlotte; three beautiful great-grandchildren, Taylor Thomas, Kelsey Thomas, and Jimmy Thomas all of Nashville; and two brothers, Bill Moran of Newark, Del., and John Moran of Morehead City, N.C. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. Burial will follow the funeral service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
