He also > worked on the structure of inorganic pyrophosphatase, an enzyme that converts > pyrophosphate, the product of reactions involving ATP, into two phosphate ions. > Gerard took a position in the Chemistry Division at Oak Ridge National > Laboratory in 1977 and between 1982 and 1990 worked in the Solid State Division there. > Recently he moved his laboratory to the University of Tennessee.
