She was preceded in death by her parents, Estel and Nannie Kennedy; sisters, Hazel Edwards and Nora Heatherly; granddaughters, Andrea and Aundrea Burress. She is survived by her daughters, Tommie and husband Jess Ogg III, Jane Burress, Susie Burress and Sherry Burress, all of LaFollette; grandchildren, Shane Burress, Alicia Marlet, Nathan Stevens, Jathan Burress, Justin Hatfield and Jess Ogg IV; sisters, Gwen Wallace, Shirley Kennedy and Clara Mae Hatmaker; special care giver, Debbie Sweat. Funeral services were held Sept. 13 in the Cross Chapel with the Rev. Don Whited and Rev. Kelly Wishoun officiating. Interment was in the Davis Chapel Cemetery. He was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lassie Jordan Cox; grandson, Jason Reynolds; brothers, James and Everette Cox; sisters, Dorothy Chadwick and Lillian Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Ella Beatrice Miller Cox; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Reynolds, of Norris, Rhonda Cox, of LaFollette; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Regina Cox, of Tellico Plains; grandchildren, Tobie Carroll, Jodi Cox, Brandon Hopkins and Thomas Brandenburg; great -grandchildren: Michael and Kelsey Carroll; brothers, Wayne ,Frank, Oscar Cox, all of LaFollette, Benny Cox, of Chattanooga; sisters, Marcella McNeely and Tennie Heatherly, of LaFollette; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends Funeral services were held Sept. 18 in the Cross Chapel with the Rev. LaFollette Press Sept. 20, 2007 Glenna Cupp, age 75 of Caryville passed away Sept. 14 at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of Indian Mound Baptist Church. She loved going to church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur LeRoy Cupp; parents, Rev. Frank and Linda Lawson Thompson; brothers, Bob and Ted Thompson. He was a faithful member of Braden's Chapel Church in Speedwell for over 50 years and served in the Korean War. LaFollette Press Sept. 20, 2007 Jess Michael (Mike) Goins, age 56 of LaFollette, returned to his Lord on Sept. 13. He professed Jesus Christ as His Savior at an early age. He was a member and deacon of New Horizon Baptist Church, where he was faithful to the bus ministry with a great love for his fellowmen and their salvation. He was preceded in death by his father, Jess Lee Goins and father-in-law, Boyd Jones.He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Aileen (Jones) Goins; mother, Opal Pearl (Housley) Goins; brother, Bob and wife, Mary Goins; sister, Brenda and husband Veach McPherson, New Tazewell; brothers and sisters in law, Janice and Ronnie Russell, Gary and Dee Jones, Susie and Mike Minton, Carolyn and Rusty Gillum, Jay Jones; 12 nieces and nephews; 14 grand nieces and nephews. LaFollette Press Sept. 20, 2007 Etta Aline Brown Hill of Knoxville passed away Sept. 9. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville. After graduating from Ward-Belmont College, Peabody College, and the University of Tennessee, she was a supervisor and teacher at Tennessee School for the Deaf for 34 years. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Etta and J.L. Brown of LaFollette. She was born April 1, 1928 in Campbell County. to the late John and Bessie Wilson Peterson. She was a member of the First Dutch Valley Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her great grandchildren, and she also enjoyed reading and working in her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Smith; brothers, J.C. Peterson, and Ronald Chapman; sisters, Vola Marcum, Florine Smith, and Tennie Cook; son in law, Glen Long. She was a member of Fincastle Church of God. She was a very loving, caring, and happy wife that loved to work in her garden. She loved life itself and enjoyed going to church and singing gospel music. She was a licensed registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Letner York. She is survived by her husband, Charles Ward; father, Shelby York both of LaFollette; sister and brother in law, Tammy Kay and Johnny Hoover of OH.
