Griffith, age 100 of LaFollette Bonnie Marie Lindsay Gross, age 87 of LaFollette Eugene Inman, age 75 of Lake City, James D. May, Sr. age 82, of LaFollette Billy W. Ayers, age 50, of LaFollette, passed away Sept. 4 at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. He was preceded in death by Wesley Ayers and Martha Wells; brother, Donnie Brian Ayers.He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ayers; daughters, Kristie Tipton and Tosha Ayers, all of LaFollette; grandchildren, Dylan and Amber Tipton; brothers, Lester and Gambrel Ayers of LaFollette; sisters, Lucille Jones and Gail Love of LaFollette, Rhona Page of Auburndale, FL, Shelia Camberlian of Lakeland, FL; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Sept. 7 at the Cross Chapel with the Rev. Charles Jack Goins officiating. Interment was in the Hall Cemetery, Stinking Creek. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press Sept. 13, 2007 Alice M. Branam, age 89 of LaFollette passed away Sept. 7 at St. Mary's Health and Rehab Center in LaFollette. She was a member of Rock Creek Community Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dewey Branam, daughter Roann and son, Jerry, parents, George and Roann Baird, sisters, Charles, Savannah, Cassie and Mary, brother, J.N. She is survived by her son, Larry Branam and wife, Pamela of Loveland, OH; granddaughter, Alexandria Lacey Marie Branam; brother, L.C. Baird; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sept. 8 at the Charity Worship Center with Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Interment was in the Hall Cemetery Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press Sept. 13, 2007 Harold R. Brown, age 86, of Jacksboro, joined his Lord and Savior on Sept.10. He was a graduate of Moody Bible College and was in the Ministry some thirty-five years and a faithful member of the East Jacksboro Baptist Church where he taught the Men's Adult Class for a number of years. He retired to Tennessee in 1986 and joined the team at Wal-Mart where he worked until sickness forced his retirement. He most enjoyed studying his Bible and preparing young men for the ministry. He also loved wood working and oil painting. He was preceded in death by his sons, Robert and Timmy Brown of Portage, Ind. and Michael Svaco of Jacksboro; grandson, Jimmy Brown of Greenbay, WI:. brothers, John, Melvin,Calvin, and David Brown of CA. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Ayers Brown; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Betty Brown of Portage, IN, Dale and Connie Brown of Surprize, AZ; daughters and sons in law. Karen and Ron Hale of Portage, IN, Judy and Teddy Jones, Jean and Jim Pritchard, all of Glendale, Az., Kim and Scott Millsaps of Knoxville; sister, Betty Tackett of Homestead, CA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sept. 12 with Pastor Jimmy Ault officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Sept. 13 at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press Sept. 13, 2007 Lottie K. Davis, age 89 of LaFollette ascended to heaven on Aug. 28. She was a member of West LaFollette Baptist Church. Double Past Worthy Matron of the Cumberland Mountain Chapter 147 O.E.S., Daughters of America and a long time employee of the shirt factory.She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clifford U. Davis; daughter, Betty Jean Davis Miller; son, Ulys Fred (Butch); an infant son and daughter. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Taylor and husband, David of LaFollette, Brenda Henson and husband, Bert of OH with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Matt and Mark Miller of FL, Mark Taylor of TN, Kenneth Henson and wife, Sue of TX, Rick Henson and wife, Rebecca of OH, Michael Henson and wife, Nicole of ME, Dwight Davis, Rhonda Beougher and husband, Mark of OH; nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Aug. 31 with the Rev. Hobert McCreary and Rev. Ty Blake officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press Sept. 13, 2007 Leonard Trelly Franklin, age 82 of Jacksboro passed away Sept. 5 at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Eagles Club, enjoyed horseshoes, playing poker, and loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marie Martin Franklin; daughter, Freddie Jane Nelson; parents, Fred and Sally Ashley Franklin; brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, James Edward and Joyce Franklin of LaFollette, Leonard Jr. and Rita Franklin of Caryville; daughter, Rosie Cooper of Jacksboro; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; brother, Hubert Ashley of GA; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sept. 7 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Cap Henney officiating. Interment was in the Bakers Forge Cemetery. Griffith, age 100 of LaFollette passed away Sept. 5 at St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of East LaFollette Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Enoch Griffith who passed away in Feb. 1983; son, Franklin Delano Griffith. She is survived by her children, Geraldine Griffith Logan and Eula Griffith Miracle, both of LaFollette, William Joseph Griffith of Corbin, KY, Lowell Thomas Griffith of Kingsport, and Sallie Griffith Hollifield of Athens, GA; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sept. 7 at Charity Worship Center with Rev. Bill Helton officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press Sept. 13, 2007 Bonnie Marie Lindsay Gross, age 87 of LaFollette gently left this life on Aug. 28 to rejoin her loving husband of 65 years, Ulyss Gross. She was surrounded by her loving family when she peacefully died at home in Tampa, FL. She was a member of the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her delicious cakes, pies and cookies that brought smiles to the faces of so many. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Hugh and Bertha Lindsay; beloved brother, Robert Lindsay and close cousin, Hudon Overbay. She is survived by her children, Ron Gross and wife, Pat of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Regina Braden and husband, Doug of LaFollette, Margaret King and husband, Carl of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Lindsay Gross, Mark Braden and wife, Tonya, Teresa Braden and Matthew Braden; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Agnes Gross; brother, Frank Lindsay and wife, Betty; sisters-in-law, Irene Lindsay and Louise Turney, all of LaFollette; eight nieces and nephews although many more claimed her as "Aunt Bonnie".Funeral services were held Sept. 7 at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church officiated by her pastor, Mark Partin. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press Sept. 13, 2007 Eugene Inman, age 75 of Lake City, passed away Sept. 9 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born Feb.18, 1932 in Campbell County to the late Hutson and Rachel Phillips Inmam. He loved listening to gospel music and loved the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Queener. He is survived by his brother and sister in law, Jonah and Connie Phillips of Lake City; sisters, Rose Daugherty of Jacksboro, Helen Brewer of Jacksboro and Pauline Irwin of LaFollette. Funeral services were held Sept. 11 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Derek Seiber officiating. Interment was in the Queener Cemetery in Caryville. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press Sept. 13, 2007 James D. May, Sr. age 82, of LaFollette passed away Sept. 3 at St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born in Thacker, WV to the late Johnny and Lula May. He worked as a coal miner, a carpenter and had retired from the Columbus Water Division. He lived in Columbus, OH for most of his life where he was a faithful member of the Columbus United Baptist Church. Following his move to LaFollette, he joined the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he leaves behind a host of good friends. Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Katheryn May and brothers Carson, Lee, Ed and Algie. He is survived by his son, Jim (Nora) May; daughter, Sandra (Josh) Etter; their mother; and James' caregiver, Dolly Mastrorocco; grandchildren, Josh Jr. and Penny Etter, Patricia (Terry) Hook and Teresa (Bill) Blake; great-grandchildren, Sandra and Nikol Adder and Samantha, Marissa and Jessica Blake; brothers, Charles (Wanda), Jessie, Billie (Sue) and Rodger (Sue); sisters, Violet Akers, Betty McCoy and Pauline Smith; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sept. 5 at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus with Pastors Frank Dials and Joe Sparks officiating. Interment was in Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Schoedinger North Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
