Sue and Nancy, The Christian Bookstore in Oneida (in the strip center where Wal-mart is at) has a lot of Scott County Historical Society books. The Independent Herald does also. You can also purchase the directly at SCHS if it is open or I believe on Tim West's site there may be an order form and you can complete the order form and mail it with a check and they will mail the books to you. I do have the book and would be happy to do look up for you or any one else. This is a list of the books that I have if any one wants a look-up: Cemeteries of Scott County, Tennessee (1994) Scott County, Tennessee Marriagews 1854-1880 (1994) Marriages, Scott County, Tennessee 1880-1893 (1991) Marriages, Scott County, Tennessee 1893-1904 (1991) Scott County, Tennessee Marriages 1904-1912 Scott County in the Civil War If any one would like a look-up, please let me know. I won't pass on THAT invitation! I know that Rev Joel C and Mary Jane TRAMMELL CHITWOOD are buried in the Winfield Cemetery, along with my father's baby sister, Geneva SCHRADER. I'm looking for any of these, their children: Eldora "Dora" CHITWOOD who married Eugene BRADEN Jarvis CHITWOOD who married Ellen BLANKENSHIP Arbana "Bannie" CHITWOOD who married John Albert CRABTREE Susie CHITWOOD who married John / Jonathan Elswick CHITWOOD Zellie CHITWOOD (who did not marry) Nancy Jane "Nanny" CHITWOOD who marred Louis GRANT Charles "Charley" CHITWOOD who married (1) Rachel CRABTREE and (2) Stella May MAXEY Frankie CHITWOOD who married (1) Calvin SHARP, (2) ?? BYRD Coney CHITWOOD who married Ida whose last name I will remember after I send this.. George CHITWOOD (who did not marry) That's a long list! And I'm hoping to find some of my TRAMMELL relatives, specifically James and Rebekah HAMBY TRAMMELL. If you could find information on ANY of these, I'd be very grateful! Please don't spend loads of time on it, though. I would like to find the book and add it to my collection. Doesn't sound too hard to find. Had never heard of the Doisey House. And is the Stearns Coal and Lumber Museum up in Stearns, or is there one in Scott County? I WANT TO STAY DOWN THERE FOR A MONTH AND THEN GO BACK EVERY YEAR!!! I can just see that there won't be enough time to do all that I want, and I still want to meet any cousins still in the area. Okay, I'll quit whining and just be very happy that I can go down at all! :-) Thanks for the great tips and information. I just get more and more excited as I get closer to this great adventure!
