Elliott, age 78 of Jellico Perry Gayle Etheridge, age 66 of Caryville George Norman Johnson, age 67, Barton H. Jordan, age 93 of LaFollette Anna Evelyn Queener Bratcher Taylor, age 38 of LaFollette Alvin Burl Alexander, age 87, of LaFollette, passed away July 20. He was of the Baptist faith and a Christian. He was retired from Firestone Tire in Wyandotte, MI. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha May and son-in-law, Carl Shimmell. He is survived by his wife, Edna Rose Alexander; daughters, Linda Shimmell of Trenton, MI, Edna Vokes of LeRoy, MI and Geraldine Redmond of Speedwell; son, Raymond Alexander of Horton, MI; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brothers, Leon Alexander, R.C. Alexander, Hubert Alexander and Bobby Alexander, all of Japser, Ala; sister, Olean Gay of Atlanta, GA. Funeral services were held at the Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper, Ala. Interment was held in the Edgel Grove Cemetery in Jasper. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press July 26, 2007 Alma Ruth Vinsant Cain, age 86 of LaFollette, passed away July 22 at her home. She was a graduate of Jacksboro High School and University of Kentucky, former teacher in the Campbell County School System, and member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, where she served as pianist for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred I. Cain, Sr. on March 27, 2007; parents, James Garfield and Martha Chadwell Vinsant; brother, Clarence Doyle Vinsant. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Freeman and husband, James of LaFollette; son, Fred I. Cain, Jr. and wife, Sandra of LaFollette; grandchildren, Ali Freeman and fiancé, Adam Smith, Michael Cain and wife, Jessica, Matt Cain and fiancé, Lindsay Marlow; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held July 23 in the Walters Chapel with Malcolm King officiating. Interment was in the Jacksboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the church of your choice. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press July 26, 2007 Kenneth William Childress, age 82 of LaFollette, passed away July 17 at his home. He was a World War II Veteran, 101 Airborne, and recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a retired dairy farmer, faithful member of the Fincastle United Methodist Church and Men's Sunday School Class. He loved farming and had the first grade A dairy farm in Campbell County in 1952. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth William Jr., parents William and Lillie Childress; sister, Ruella Childress, sister and brother-in-law, Lennie and Lloyd Harmon, brother, Clarence Childress. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Dew Childress; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Gary Edwards of Warrenton, VA, Martha and David Rutter of Ooltewah, TN, Anne and Rocky Young of Louisville, TN, Madelon and Stroud Lycans of Hendersonville, TN; daughter-in-law, Kathy Childress of LaFayette, TN; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Floyd Burris; sisters-in-law, Ruby Childress and Mary Moody; many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held July 20 at Fincastle United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Cole officiating. Interment was in the Fincastle Cemetery. LaFollette Press July 26, 2007 Clara Evelyn (Stanley) Crouch, age 77 of LaFollette, formerly of Grant County, KY passed away July 13 at the St. Mary's Health and Rehab of LaFollette. She retired from Levi Strauss in Florence, KY. in 1991 after 25 years. She enjoyed talking about and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford (Gene) Crouch. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Connie and Dennis Snow of LaFollette; granddaughter: Tricia Baker of Whitesburg, KY; grandson, Adam Snow of LaFollette; great grandchildren, Christian and Savannah Baker of Whitesburg, KY. Hannah Snow of Speedwell; stepsisters, Myrtle Henry and Mamie Sikes; special niece, Marsha Layton all of Owensboro, KY, a host of other relatives and friends- extended family and staff of St. Mary's Rehab of LaFollette. Funeral services were held July 16 at the Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home. Interment was in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Dry Ridge, KY. Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press July 26, 2007 Thelma B. Elliott, age 78 of Jellico passed away July 21 at the Jellico Community Hospital. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Elliott of Jellico, Lois Hicks of Jellico; son in law, Wayne Hicks of Jellico; grandson, Jeffrey Hicks of Jellico; sister, Ethel Boshears of Williamsburg, KY; brother, Bobby Elliott of Knoxville; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held July 25 in the Llewellyn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Landes officiating. Interment was in the Jellico Cemetery. Llewellyn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press July 26, 2007 Perry Gayle Etheridge, age 66 of Caryville passed away July 14 in San Luis, CO. He was a member of Mixon Baptist Church in Mixon, TX. He loved computers, building, hiking, traveling, animals, hunting and loved Colorado. He was a big fan of Nascar Racing and loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe Etheridge. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Etheridge; daughter:,Melissa Etheridge and husband, Wesley Fear; grandchildren, Nick Valadez and Nini Fear all of Caryville; son, Craig Etheridge of Linwood, NC; mother, Ella Kay Brown of College Station, TX; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Graveside services and interment were held July 21 in the Campbell Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Hobert McCreary officiating with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. He was born Aug. 19, 1939 in Lake City to the late Carl and Beulah Armstrong Johnson. He was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and an active Past Master of the Coal Creek Masonic Lodge #492. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tim Johnson, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Myrtle Duncan. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Phyllis A. Duncan of Clinton; sons, George, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Bridewater, NJ, Darrel W. and wife, Nisey of Soddy Daisy, TN and Steve B. and wife, Gale of Sale Creek, TN; sisters, Geraldine (Geri) Miller and husband, Eugene (Curley) of Batavia, OH, Betty Waters of Aiken, SC; brother, Carl (Bob) Johnson of Lake City; granddaughters, Heather, Hannah and Dakota; grandsons, Jody, Gabe, Trae, Luke, Austin and Jeb; special sister in law, Brenda Poynter of Lake City; brother in law, Ray Duncan of Lake City; brothers in law, Jerry Duncan and wife, Lois of Hartwell, GA, Benny Joe Duncan and wife Kay of Indianapolis, IN; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. LaFollette Press July 26, 2007 Barton H. Jordan, age 93 of LaFollette left for his Heavenly Home on July 18. He was born May 21, 1914. He was a dedicated Christian, Senior Deacon and charter member of Rock Creek Community Church of God where he had taught Sunday school since 1955. Member of Queen City Masonic Lodge in Cincinnati and the Scottish Rite in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his adored wife of 55 years, Ora Evelyn Bolton Jordan, one infant son, and great- grandson, Daniel Boshears. He is survived by his children, Leland Jordan and wife, Judy of Belleville, MI, L. C. Jordan and wife, Carlotta of Bradington, FL, Jessee Grant Jordan and wife, Kathy of Milford, OH, Janice Jordan Bond, Joyce Jordan Morgan and husband, Wayne, and Elizabeth Jordan Stephens and husband, Dorsey, all of LaFollette; 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held July 21 at the Rock Creek Community Church of God with Rev. Audie Murray and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment was in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Masonic Rites were conducted by Campbell County Masonic Lodge #778 F.&A.M. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Faith Assembly and Family Center at 337 S. LaFollette Press July 26, 2007 Anna Evelyn Queener Bratcher Taylor, age 38 of LaFollette passed away at her home. She was a member of West Walden Church of God. She was a very loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and aunt. She loved to sing gospel songs in church, TV, and radio. She had a special heart for caring for animals. She could light up a room with her smile and laughter. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, even though she was taken suddenly. We all look forward to seeing her in heaven. She is survived by her husband, Butch Taylor; sons, Daniel Lee and Blake Shane Bratcher, Dennis Taylor; daughters, Summer Ann and Wendy Sue Bratcher, Tiffany and Brittany Taylor; parents, Charles Edward and Anna Barbara Queener all of LaFollette; brother and wife, Eddie and Lori Queener of Jacksboro; sister and husband, Sue and Paul Fields of Williamsburg; several other friends and relatives. Funeral services were held July 22 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with the Rev. Jasper Walden and Rev. Jay Walden officiating. Interment was in the Pond Cemetery.
