My reason for asking about Rachel Crabtree's parentage is because I wondered if she might be this same Rachel living with Isaac and Pherba in the 1910 census. My ggf is Charlie Crabtree (son of Isaac and Pherba) and my great aunt Avis (age 79 and last surviving child of Charlie and Eliza Bauswell) remembers a Rachel in that family. I have been having an ongoing discussion since last spring about this family with some wonderful people I have met through this Scott County message board. Information on this family from other than oral sources is very hard to come by. I have taken the liberty of including excerpts from some of the information we have been mulling over this summer. Isaac Crabtree and William Abner Crabtree were apparently first cousins. Charley and Eliza moved here (Lawrence County, Indiana) sometime in the 1910's. Is it possible some of the Chitwoods came here also as we have several families living just across the county line into Monroe County? Maybe some of this will jog someone's memories. I would like to add that I think this and the Morgan County board are absolutely the greatest message boards I have ever followed. Pretty ironic that my mother's Crabtree's are from Scott County while my dad's Cross family hails from the Wartburg area originally.
