I have heard of the painting symbols on barns, but if memory serves me, they called them "Hex" painting, guess you could call them dechanting symbols, since they were to keep away unfriendly enties. There are a lot of "hex" paintings on barns in Southern Indiana... especially around the Amish areas. Ever go to Brown County?
