Why would Rosetta West, age 2, be listed in the 1880 Scott Co. Census as the daughter of James M. and Rebecca Newport?
Was Rosetta born to Rebecca prior to her marriage to James? Is she, by any chance, a granddaughter - mislabeled "daughter" by the census taker or the transcriber? Was she a daughter of a relative and taken in by James and Rebecca, and considered their "daughter"? Probably lots more probabilities out there.
