    3. Sue I sure don't! And I just now left the GenWeb site for Scott County... they've made a great start on cemetery listings there, but it seemed as though everything I wanted to check out was not catalogued yet and/or didn't have a map. I would LOVE to have the time down there to do that! I sure hope that someone can and will continue that labor of love! Now, where is this gift store you have mentioned? It just might have the information I have been looking for. And the Independent Herald is in..... Oneida maybe? Thanks, once again, for your help. Nancy where it's dark. Possibly because it's pushing midnight..... ----- Original Message ----- From: "SL" <cswl@charter.net> To: <tnscott@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 24, 2007 10:28 PM Subject: Re: [TNSCOTT] Scott County > Do you have the book of gravesites for Scott co.? 3. The Independant Herald is in Oneida as you are traveling south its on the right side of the road. I cannot remember the name of the gift shop but its in Oneida on the left side of the road in a shopping area that is one lond building. If you ask around you will be able to get the name they have alot of the books for sale. Also be sure to go to the Doisey House there is a mega of info be sure to call ahead to be sure they will be open. Its a fantastic place to find "interesting tidbits". You will probably want to also go to the Stearns Coal and Lumber Museum we found info there as well on all of my Daddy's people. They do take donations as well if you are interested. A GREAT place. You will shocked at how fast your time will pass while looking! 3. We're open 9-5 M-Tu-Th . . . 9-3 on W and 9-4 on F. I usually put in about 15-20 hours on Sat & Sun, as well. If the white Ford p/u is on the lot, I'm in the bldg. Sometimes the front door is locked. Come to the back door; it rarely is. On Aug 23, 2007, at 6:44 PM, Rae Smith wrote: > Thank you Frank. 3. Is there a way to find an overview of what materials they hold? This might be an interesting side trip if it contains things relevent to my families, the CHITWOODs, TRAMMELLs, HAMBYs, etc. Or materials relating to the Stearns Lumber Company, of which my SCHRADER grandfather was a foreman and mill supervisor. They lived many places in Scott County, as he traveled to open up new mill sites. Seems like each *kid* had a different birthplace - Stearns (KY), Winfield, Jellico, Lancing, Catoosa, Capuchin, Elk Valley, and that little village down below where the I-75 section keeps falling down the mountainside... starts with an *N*... Or information about my dad's Uncle Jarvis CHITWOOD's wooden wagon wheel factory or his movie theater in Oneida... Thanks. 3. Rae, if you or anyone had planned on visiting the Scott Historical Society, you might want to contact Paul Roy at the Independent Herald. The Society is closed, but it's my understanding it will open by appointment. Paul will, I'm sure, have the number to call to set up an appointment.
