I was wondering why none of the roads had their names anywhere. I finally gave up a long time ago. When my cousin is not working she takes me around since she was born and raised in Scott County. I usually don't do research when I am there though. I have too many family members to visit and still don't see most of them. I have been up there 3 to 4 times a year and haven't seen my Uncle in years. He lives at Capitol Hill...not 15 minutes from where I stay. I try to see friends also but just seem to run out of time no matter how long I stay. Oh well...At least now I know why the roads don't have road signs. Rosemary We FINALLY found that Trammell Cemetery at Capuchin, but it took a helpful local to lead us out of total lost-ness and head us in the right direction. And the Cemetery Book - which we were not able to get our hands on until the next day - has an error regarding this cemetery, anyway. At the end of the instructions, it tells us to turn left, whereas we have to turn RIGHT. I will pass that on to the publisher. Once you reach the turn area, it's only a short distance to the cemetery. And we did find (g-g-g-grandparents) David and Lucinda TRAMMELL's stones, for which we were very excited. We were glad that the "local" had told us that we were going up over the mountain on "a scary road"... she was quite right! Bottomed out at one point and knew that - with no cell signal and no clue where we were, anyway - if we had fatally damaged our car's undercarriage, they would eventually find our bleached bones!! Never did find Capuchin itself, despite Mapquest and others. Our only real problem with our visit to Scott County is that it's darned hard to find your way on roads that look like a pile of spaghetti from the air and HAVE NO ROAD SIGNS!!!!! If I were suddenly wealthy, the first thing I'd do is to install road signs in Scott County! It's a beautiful area, and we had many great experiences, but lack of road signs made for a trip a whole lot more interesting than we needed. Thanks for your suggestions. They were excellent ones! Frank, Thank you for the info. I visited the SCHS a few years back and Paul was very helpful and even told me a few stories about my g-g-grandfather that he knew which was priceless since that grandfather was deceased by the time I was born. My 2nd Great-Grandmother was Eliza "Lizzie" Cross who married Pharoah Wright. Is this in your Cross family? She was the daughter of Caswell Cross. I have found quite a bit of information on the Crosses, online, but I haven't verified it yet. Amanda
