    2. Stephen & Patricia West
    3. I just went today for my secound time to the Historicol Socity in Huntsville. Anyone who has not been there really need to go. They have an overwelming amout of material there. I still can't belive the stuff that I have gotten there. Also I bought the print of old Huntsville today. One of the neatest things that I have got is a copy of the actual funeral home records, It tells time of death, ocupation, parents name, price of funeral, and lots more. As soon as youns can you need to get down there and check it out. Stephen

    3. Actually, it makes clear sense. It's just quite different in my little town, up north here. I assumed that it would be the same other places. Here, if I were to ask for that information, they would be happy to see what they had available or could find. We found the same situation in another town quite a bit south of here. I guess it just depends on who you ask and how much they want to help. My experiences have been very good, and especially when they find that I am a genealogist on a mission. Just thought I'd make the suggestion. You might want to sit on it for a while, until you don't feel that you would be intruding on the family. The only problem there is that the funeral home people, who might be able to help you now, might have forgotten the connections when you ask later. The chance you take. 3. This will bring back a lot of memories about the cars we drove or rode in. Should be equally nostalgic for both sexes. Make sure you have your speakers on too because the background music is just as good. http://thefiftiesandsixties.com/CarsWeDrove.htm I titled this email "Cars we drove in Scott County" and I'm wondering if that might make for an interesting addition to the website. Pictures of old cars (actually in Scott County), identifying make, manufacturer, year, and location. What do you think? -- ...tim west... 3. Nancy, Oops...I forgot to say something else in the previous email. So when the obituary is released, it generally contains or references all the information that was provided on the "form". I'm sure there are exceptions but generally the obituary is only as good as the info on the form. I guess what I'm trying to say is contacting the funeral home probably won't help because they won't have the info without having to ask the original provider. The funeral home might have it if there was something other than a business relationship with the family but then again they may not release it because it would not be part of the information authorized for release by the family (as implied by the original obituary information). I'm not sure I am being clear. Does that make sense? Or am I just rationalizing my reluctance to call the funeral home? ...tim west... 1. [TNSCOTT] 24 Jan 2008 Edition of Independent Herald?
    2. Timothy N. West
    3. Does anyone have this edition?. I never received mine in the mail from our "trusty" post office. If you do, please tell me on what page the obituaries were printed -- the actual page, as the table of contents on the front page is often wrong. Could you also tell me if there were there any pictures associated with any of the obits. -- ...tim west... Scott Co, TN Coordinator for the TNGenWeb Project http://www.tngenweb.org/scott

    3. In Scott Co. there are three small libraries. Wouldn't it be great if they were merged into one centrally located library? You only have to visit the McCreary Co. Library in Whitley City to see what we could then have. For a small town in a not very prosperous county, they have done a fantastic job. While on the library board I tried to promote that idea but no one else seemed to like the idea. We are blessed with three excellent librarians, but unfortunately they can only accomplish so much with their limited facilities. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephen & Patricia West" <Sandpaw@highland.net> To: <tnscott@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 15, 2008 11:39 PM Subject: Re: [TNSCOTT] ancestory.com >I wish the one here did, we don't have a really good library. > Stephen > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "James S. 3. Well normally that would be right, apparently thou, he forgot what year he was born. It has his date of birth as 2-28-1874, and his age as 45. The date on the paper is 9-12-1918, it had to be 1873. Also I have some of his personal writings were he put the births and deaths of his family and it has it as 1873.
