    3. Stephen Additional to my last posting (which I have not seen hit the TNSCOTT list yet.....) There is a Morris FOSTER, age 25 in the 2nd Civil Dist, Scott Co, TN in the 1880 census. Living with Jane, age 22, plus a Morris WALLACE, "nephew". I wonder if the older Morris FOSTER is a son of Morris and Rhoda... Any clues? 3. To us, up here in Michigan where Justus STEARNS lived, his presence is still very strong. Stearns Hotel, Stearns Park, Paulina Stearns Hospital (a gift to the community in memory of his wife), the former Stearns Salt Works, Stearns Motor Company, Stearns Sawmills, plus a little town built nearby during the lumbering era, Stearns Siding, among others. Mr Stearns was very active in the lumbering business here before (and after) he got involved in the coal and lumber industries in the Stearns, KY areas. He also was extremely active in creating jobs and modern conveniences up here. (My father used to pose for some of his son, Robert's, drawings and paintings. I saw several pieces of Robert's artwork in the museum in Stearns.) My grandfather worked for Mr Stearns up here, and then was sent to Stearns, KY, to scout out and work in the various sawmills down there. That's where he met and married my CHITWOOD grandmother. And the rest is history.... There are many wonderful stories taken from issues of these Chronicles printed on the website. The Index lists an issue that I would love to have a reproduction of. But I don't know how to get one. It is the issue of Fall, 2002, Vol 14, No 1. It contains the 100th anniversary write-up of the Pine Grove Baptist Church (which my g-grandfather, Rev Joel C CHITWOOD, reportedly co-founded, with his brother-in-law, Daniel BLEVINS.) I would love to read this historical account. There also is an article called "Pine Grove Baptist Church: A Remembrance". The same issue also has a feature on "Stearns - the Town and the Company". Since Mr Stearns came from my hometown (Ludington, Michigan) and founded Stearns, KY, then sent my grandfather (John SCHRADER, who married Charity CHITWOOD) down from Ludington to work in the lumber mills there, I would really like to see this write-up, too. 3. Tim, I wrote the obit for my sister who died in 2005. The funeral home accepts written obits but the rest of your statement concerning "forms" is accurate. So when the obituary is released, it generally contains or references all the information that was provided on the "form". I'm sure there are exceptions but generally the obituary is only as good as the info on the form. I guess what I'm trying to say is contacting the funeral home probably won't help because they won't have the info without having to ask the original provider. The funeral home might have it if there was something other than a business relationship with the family but then again they may not release it because it would not be part of the information authorized for release by the family (as implied by the original obituary information). I'm not sure I am being clear. Does that make sense? Or am I just rationalizing my reluctance to call the funeral home? ...tim west...
