    1. [TNSCOTT] A Little Different SSDI
    2. connie mead
    3. >From my Candyman List: Social Security Death Index Search http://www.familytreelegends.com/ssdi Reviewed by Eastman's Online: New SSDI Search Engine Another free Social Security Death Index online database has been announced. This might appear to be "ho-hum news" as there are already several such databases available. However, a closer examination shows that this one is different. Family Tree Legends is a genealogy program for Windows that I reviewed in the November 11, 2002 edition of this newsletter. You can read that article at: http://www.rootsforum.com/archives/news0245.htm. Cliff Shaw, one of the developers of Family Tree legends, has now announced the newest and most powerful SSDI search engine yet. It has all the features of every other SSDI search engine, plus 4 entirely unique ones: Name Prefix Search - Enter from 3 to 5 characters for the last name and select the Prefix option... it will search on that last name prefix. Year Range Searches - For both the Death Year and Birth Year, you can select to search a range of years instead of the year needing to be exactly right. Age at Death Search - You can enter the age at which the person died. This is really effective if you don't have any idea what year they were born or died but you do know their age at death. You can click on the places that are returned in the results and get latitude and longitude, region information, aerial photos, maps, and more. I tried the new database and can confirm that it works well. I really liked the feature that will automatically generate a letter to the Social Security Administration asking for a copy of the deceased person's Form SS-5, an application for a Social Security number. You can directly print the letter, stuff it into an envelope, along with a check, and mail it to the address indicated. In a few weeks you will receive the copy of the original SS-5. The Family Tree Legends Social Security Death Index will also automatically search the millions of records on GenCircles, looking for any records of the same individual. Cliff also states, "I want it to be known that this SSDI search engine will ALWAYS be free." That is an important statement in this day and age of formerly-free services disappearing into for-pay sites." 1. [TNSCOTT] Prayer Request
    2. Rae Smith
    3. I am forwarding this prayer request that someone sent me....Please feel free to delete if you do not want this e-mail. Thank you. Rae Recently there was a terrible accident which involved the van of someone dear to many and her children. A truck lost control and came over the median and hit them head on. Tonya Mitcham, 41 and her 4 children ages 3, 5, 8 and 11 were in the van headed to a park for a mini vacation in South GA.The accident happened as they were headed to pick up her mother and go to a park. Tonya died after being on life support for several days. She was an organ doner and all that could be used were harvested and sent on to help others live. She was a career nurse and has spent her life helping others. Her daughter, Mallory, age 8, is still in critical condition in a drug induced coma in the Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon, GA.She does have some brain damage but due to the severity of injuries cannot yet have surgery to repair a broken leg. Also she has a punctured lung and other injuries. They have her on a respirator. They attempted to bring her out of the drug induced coma but she was frantic and kept calling for her Mama so they induced the coma again. She is now running a temp and they do not know the source. There is some definite weakness on her left side but the extent of the injuries is not known. It doesn't look good for this child. The other 3 children sustained cuts and bruises but are at home. The 11 year old called her father from the wreck screaming she couldn't wake her mama or Mallory. She as well as the other 2 children, both boys, have been severely traumatized. Your prayers and healing energies are requested for this family. As you can imagine, the father is overwhelmed. He has lost his wife and may lose one of his children. Please feel free to forward this to others who do not mind praying and sending healing energies to this little girl and her family. The family resides in Warner Robins, GA and Mallory is in the hospital in Macon, GA. Thanks in advance for your help.
