    1. [TNSCOTT] Serious Problems Ahead for USGenNet -- Scott Co, TN Website Host
    2. Timothy N. West
    3. The following came from the President of the USGenNet, the organization that houses the Scott Co, TN Website. They house many, but not all, of the Tennesse Counties that are part of the TNGenWeb including our neighbor -- Morgan Co, TN. If you can help, please do. "The fact is that USGenNet is not receiving the funds necessary to keep us online. The new year is only a few short weeks away, and thus far, USGenNet only has funds to keep us online through the month of April. "Unless we receive a lot more in donations, USGenNet will go offline on May 1, 2004 and none of your websites will be visible on the Internet, although the contents of your sites will remain safe on the USGenNet server. When the money runs out, we will be forced to disconnect our server. . "USGenNet is a 501(c)(3) corporation, which means all donations are tax-deductible like any other charitable contribution. 3. It's on page 4 of Scott Co Historical Society's publication Obituaries from The West Union Association United Baptists' Minutes (1893-1946) and it's just a single paragraph as part of the 1895 obituaries which says: Nancy Byrd was a member of the Baptist Church for many years, and has had many trials and troubles during her pilgrimage here. She leaves a wicked husband, with several children, to mourn her loss. May her labors on earth be rewarded by the conversion of her husband, and may her children, who are as yet unsaved, learn to love and serve the lord. Her maiden name was Chitwood, b. April 4, 1857, in Scott Co., d. Feb. 15, 1894. She and Melton Asbury Byrd had eight children, only three of which are believed to have survived to adulthood.
