I do miss it though-not often -but the first snow of the season was nice.
Ok, Norm, don't rub it in. It's cold and misty in GA! <g> Debbie ----- Original Message ----- From: <NLMorgan2@aol.com> To: <TNSCOTT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 09, 2004 6:18 PM Subject: Re: [TNSCOTT] Snow > Refresh my memory please-just what is snow? There seem to be many Hammock, Hammack, Hamic, etc in Scott Co. Does anyone know where they came from? Was it VA? GA? AL? OH? KY? Surely someone somwhere knows something? Most of my Hammocks lived near Paint Rock. Thanks, Debbie
Refresh my memory please-just what is snow? Is that the white stuff I see up on our mountains from my jacuzee? It's about 72 today in Southern California. Happy New Year to all. Norm
Come visit in sunny Minnesota and it'll refresh your memory real quick on what snow is! Sunny 16 ABOVE today........lol Haven't heard too much about snow cream up here. Think maybe because there's too much "yellow" snow around?
We have a super Wal-Mart...I don't know why I haven't tried there but I will Thanks. My granddaughter has never been to your part of Tennessee. I have got to bring her up there sometime so she can see real snow. I have a list of Chambers marriages for 1851-1900. I'll do lookups. Debbie
LOL! He was right. You don't speed in this town, almost every car has a Policeman in it. When we lived in Clayton Co, if we heard a helicopter, we knew the police were looking for someone. If we hear one here, we know someone is in training. Every now and then a criminal will decide to run from the police in another town. They rarely ever make it through Forsyth. Last year a criminal spent the night in a hotel here. He didn't he leave the way he came in <G> The only problem is the cost of living is high. I've never been there but I've heard it's very big. My son had to go down there for a week right after 9-11 and I told him to call me every day and let me know he was ok. He said, "Mom, I'll be with about a thousand police officers, I think I'll be ok"....Duh! Needless to say I didn't ask him to do that again. Is that Forsyth County? Or is there a town named Forsyth? I've never heard of a town named Forsyth. But I know where Macon is. That's where my son goes to school every few months. The police dept. sends him. They have a huge training center down there. Rae, That all we have here in Forsyth! I have to go to Macon if I want to go to another store. We have the smallest Walmart you've ever seen. We do have a reasonably safe town with lots of hotels. The place is crawling with State Patrols, Policeman, Sheriffs, Forest Rangers, Firemen, etc. I live about 2 miles behind the training center. You know when I was in Helenwood in Feb. I tried to make a snowman to take a picture of for my granddaughter and email to her and I couldn't get the snow to stick together. I tried and tried and it just fell apart as soon as I opened my hand. I couldn't do anything with it. Guess that was dry. People that have not had the pleasure of having snow cream, sure are missing out. I loved it as a child in Scott Co., TN and still make some when we get enough of snow here in Indiana. Dorothy
I haven't found any of the snow cream from Mayfield yet but when I do I will sure buy it. The only time I get snow cream is when I am visiting Tennessee and it usually doesn't snow when I am there. So you can imagine how often I get snow cream. Actually I can't remember the last time I had it. When it snowed in February when I was there my cousin was going to make me some but we kept forgetting to buy the cream and sugar we needed for it.
