Etter Jr., age 52, a resident of Clinton and formerly of Coalfield, Michellee Maloney, age 41, a resident of Oliver Springs, John Robert Murphy, 81, of Lenoir City, Tenn., David Gonalez, 43, a resident of Oliver Springs Hazel Keele, age 90, of Oak Ridge, Lucy Stewart, 53, a resident of Oliver Springs, Brent Ashley "Beebo" Bowman, Sr., 24, returned home Friday afternoon, July 13, 2007 in Knoxville. Too young to taste all the fruits of life, he did have his share of bitter as well as sweet. He was born May 14, 1983 in Orange Park, Fla., where throughout school he loved baseball. He had a promising future until an injury limited his game to "just for fun." He loved all sports, though his love for the ocean surpassed all. Sand games with his son, to surfing waves, he was at peace. He was a loving father, with interest in cooking, music, and dance and loved animals. All combined with a great sense of humor. A lovable, sweet man to those who loved him. Preceded in death by grandparents, Dr. A.H. Snell and Ethelyn T. Snell of Kingston, and Great Aunt Dora S. Davidson of Oak Ridge. Brent was survived by his son, Brent Ashley Bowman, Jr., age 4, of Florida; mother, Lynn H. Bowman of Oak Ridge; "Big Sis" Lori Sabae of Knoxville; grandfather, Verner Anderson of Oak Ridge; wife, Mellisa Bowman; brother, Alex Patton; sisters, Lisa, Tracie, and Sherri; and father, Jerry Bowman. There will be a private family memorial on Brent's favorite beach. In the memory of Brent, the family requests donations be made in his name to your local wildlife rescue, dog rescue, zoo, or women's charity of choice. Etter Jr., age 52, a resident of Clinton and formerly of Coalfield, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at his home. Mr. Etter was born Oct. 14, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio. He moved to Coalfield in 1975 and on to Clinton in 1988. He was a self-employed contractor. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis T. Etter Sr.; and by a grandson, Quinton Isaiah Etter. Survivors include his son, Larren Etter and wife, Vallie, of Coalfield; mother, Jeanette Watson Etter, of Dayton, Ohio; and sisters, Roberta Parlette of Dayton, Ohio, and Ruth Ann Rose of Florida. Michellee Maloney, age 41, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at her home. Michelle was born April 8, 1966, in Carson, Calif. She has lived in Oliver Springs for 5 years. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Ralph Maloney, and her maternal grandparents, Billie and Nell Key, and by a nephew, Harley Strother. She is survived by her parents, Wiley and Evelyn Key Maloney of Andersonville; her daughter, Cecilia Nunez and husband, Pablo, of Escondido, Calif.; her son, Justice Adam Maloney of Andersonville; her financ , Eddie Harness of Oliver Springs; a stepson, John Harness of Oliver Springs; and three grandchildren, Robert, Gabriel, and Lincoln Nunez of California. John loved to go rowing, scuba diving, and square dancing with his wife. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ransom Murphy and Ruth E. Lundgren. LaFollette Press July 19, 2007 Thomas Jefferson Coil, a resident of LaFollette, passed away July 15 at his residence at the age of 71 after living a glorious life for his Lord. He loved to work and he had numerous professions during his life including farm-hand, carpenter, railroad worker, and salesman. His most recent place of employment was Smith Ace Hardware in LaFollette. Born on Sept. 11, 1935, in Bellefontaine, OH, he was raised in an orphanage. After leaving the orphanage, he traveled the country and eventually settled in LaFollette. after meeting his wife-to-be. Tom was born again on January 1, 1976, at the age of 40. He was a dedicated, faithful worker for his Lord and was a member and deacon of Elm Grove Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Coil, Sr. and Eliza Barnes Coil. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wilma Coil of LaFollette; daughter, Tammy Ballinger and husband, Jeff of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Ballinger of Blacksburg, VA and Christie Ballinger of Augusta, GA; sister, Francis Hillires; brother, Ernest Coil; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was born on Aug. 3, 1921 in Lee County, VA, the son of Luther and Molly Hammac. He was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church. He retired from the L & N Railroad after many years working as a crane operator. He was an ordained Deacon and belonged to the Masonic Lodge. He loved working in his vegetable gardens and sharing his bounty with his friends and neighbors. He loved to read the Bible and quoted scriptures to everyone he met. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lassie Ivey and brother, Sewell Hammac. Lewis, of Knoxville, Tenn., John Mark Painter, 48, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Jess Wynn, a resident of Wartburg, Ludell Brock Davis, 93, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Briarcliff Health Care Center. She was born May 21, 1914, in Birmingham, Ala., the daughter of Walter and Eppy Lee Harkins Brock. Mrs. Davis was an avid bridge player and was active in various bridge clubs. She was of the Methodist faith. She was a homemaker and active in her son's Scouting program. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Gene Davis, in 2001 and also by seven brothers and sisters and a great-grandson, Scott Davis. She is survived by: sons, Richard O. Davis and wife, Jilda, of Heathsville, Va., and Ronald G. Davis and wife, Sandi, of Weatherford, Texas; and three grandchildren, Richard Davis Jr., Chris Davis and his wife Amy, and Melissa Wiseman and her husband Rob. There are six great- grandchildren, Mitchell Davis, Jackson Davis and Scott (deceased); also Cameron Wiseman, MacKenzie Wiseman and Cindy Davis. She is also survived by wonderful caretakers of many years who became family to her, Phyllis Black, Pat Kennedy, Joyce Smith and Tracy Ridenour and others who did so much for many years. In keeping with Mrs. Davis' wishes, she was cremated. Her ashes will be entombed alongside her husband's at a later date in Oak Ridge Memorial Park. He was born on Nov. 27, 1953, in Knoxville. He grew up in Norris, Tenn., and graduated from Norris High School and the University of Tennessee. Jeff was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Norris and was employed in Knoxville, Memphis, and California at different intervals. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bernis, who passed away in 2005. Jeff is survived by his parents, Dorothy and Fred Lewis of Hendersonville, N.C.; brothers, Eric of Oak Ridge, and Fred of Memphis. A private interment is planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Cremation Options, Inc., Knoxville. John Mark Painter, 48, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., passed away July 18, 2007, at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville, Tenn. Jess Wynn, a resident of Wartburg, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at Jackson Madison General Hospital in west Tennessee. He died of lung cancer which had metastasized. Jess Wynn was born in Harlan County, Ky., the 11th of 13 children. He became the first of his family to graduate from high school. He played football at Evarts High School and earned his bachelor's degree in English from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky. He then taught high school English in Evarts, Ky., and later at a private prep school. Wynn was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during the last of the Vietnam era, earning recommendations and a purple heart when he was wounded in a firefight explosion. He married Harlan Countian Anne-Marie Begley and they lived in Illinois where he worked as a house painter and construction worker before moving to Tennessee in 1979. Mr. Wynn worked for many years at Oak Ridge Associated Universities at the NOAA facility. For the last three years he taught at a private school in west Tennessee. Mr. Wynn wrote fiction, poetry, and autobiographical novels for his own enjoyment, and he loved to sing and play the guitar. He was also an excellent gardener and an avid fly fisherman. During one outdoor excursion he plucked a tiny puppy out of a raging river and brought her safely home in his fishing vest. He was a very caring person to both animals and humankind. He is loved and missed by Anne-Marie and her brother, his longtime friend, John P. Begley; plus many other friends and co-workers. He is survived by brothers, James R. Wynn, Orville Wynn, and Marel English; sisters, Rhoda Selvey, Ruth Lamb, Gertrude Snyder, and Sharon English Davidoff; first cousins, Patsy Blevins, Paul Ed Blevins, and Arnold Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. Farley Jr., age 76, a resident of Oliver Springs, Shirley Faye Jackson Langley, age 75, of Oakdale, Tenn., Arthur L. Franson, 90, of Oak Ridge, Tenn. Ruth Lee Darden, age 83, of Oak Ridge, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge. Mrs. Darden was born July 12, 1924, in Tazewell, Tenn., to Joseph W. and Viola Lee Dossett, who are both now deceased. Mrs. Darden was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where she was very active and sang in the church choir. She was also a past president of the League of Women Voters and enjoyed hiking, walking and was an amateur painter. Following his high school graduation, he entered the U.S. Army. After completing his military service, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio. He moved back to Oliver Springs in 2006. Lewis Jackson Hobbs and the late Carrie Bell Rispers Hobbs in Thomaston (Upson County), Ga. She passed away on July 14, 2007, at the Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. She was blessed to celebrate her 90th birthday in April with family and friends. Mrs. Chambles was married to the late Henry Chambles for 54 years. They had three boys and one girl. She spent most of her life in the Fellowship and the Lincoln Park communities in Thomaston, Ga. She had been a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Upson County, Ga., since she was very young. Due to declining health, she moved to Oak Ridge, Tenn., in 1996 to be close to her son and daughter-in-law. She enjoyed gardening, housekeeping, and interacting with her children and grandchildren. She formerly read to kindergarten children at school. She was very active in the Clinton Chapter of Eastern Star, where she was for many years Worthy Matron and served as a Grand Representative for Michigan. Most recently, she was the secretary for her chapter and played the piano for many chapters. She also served as Mother Advisor to the Rainbow Girls. She played the piano for AARP and wrote their newsletter for over 17 years. Marjorie was a big fan and ticket holder for the Lady Vols. She was a member of Red Hatters. She was loved and admired by all who knew her. She touched many lives with her sweetness, compassion, energy, and zest for living. Her heart was her family and she amazed all with her will to live. Mr. Smitherman was the son of Roy C. and Clara Wallace Smitherman (both deceased) of the Antioch community near Centreville, in Bibb County, Ala., where he grew up during the Great Depression years. He graduated from the Bibb County Public Schools in 1940 where he was a football standout in high school, and was awarded a football scholarship to the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., while Sewanee was still a member of the Southeastern Conference. He earned a B. S. degree in physics from Sewanee in 1944 and because of wartime priorities, came directly to Oak Ridge to participate in the Manhattan Project. He began his employment in Oak Ridge as a physicist with the Tennessee Eastman Company at Y-12. After approximately one year he transferred to the Carbide and Carbon Chemicals Company of Union Carbide Corporation and worked the remainder of his career at the K-25 Plant. He worked there as a physicist and in various managerial positions until his retirement from the Martin Marietta Corporation in 1984. He was a longtime member of Glenwood Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Howington Smitherman. He is survived by his wife, Yonnie Tallant Smitherman; a daughter, Ea Jo Smitherman; a brother, Roy Smitherman and his wife, June, all of Oak Ridge; three sisters, Essie Mae Smitherman of Dothan, Ala., Gail Butts, of Denver, Colo., Joy Sheppard, of Marietta, Ga.; five nieces, three nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews, and three stepchildren; six stepgrandchildren, and a number of step great-grandchildren. James Robert Weir Jr., age 74, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, June 11, 2007, at Baptist Hospital West. He was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of James Robert Weir Sr. and Kathleen Lawson Weir. He is survived by five sons: James Robert III, David Jeffrey, Joseph Todd, Patrick Allen and Scott Anthony, who love and miss him. He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Weir Goode and Kathy Weir Dickey. Mr. Weir worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 39 years until his retirement in 1994. The last 20 years, he served as associate director and director of the Metals and Ceramics Division. During his tenure, he was the recipient of the E.O. Lawrence Award. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1955 in metallurgical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and his master's degree from the University of Tennessee in 1962. Mr. Weir was an avid sailor for more than 40 years. He was a member and past commodore of the Concord Yacht Club and successfully competed in numerous regattas in many classes of boats throughout the Southeast region. He was also instrumental in the early development of the sailing education programs at the club. Mr. Weir enjoyed acting with the Oak Ridge Playhouse and he was an avid singer with barbershop quartets in younger years. In keeping with Mr. Weir's wishes, his body was cremated. He was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of James Robert Weir Sr. and Kathleen Lawson Weir. He is survived by five sons: James Robert III, David Jeffrey, Joseph Todd, Patrick Allen and Scott Anthony, who love and miss him. He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Weir Goode and Kathy Weir Dickey. Mr. Weir worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 39 years until his retirement in 1994. The last 20 years, he served as associate director and director of the Metals and Ceramics Division. During his tenure, he was the recipient of the E.O. Lawrence Award. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1955 in metallurgical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and his master's degree from the University of Tennessee in 1962. Mr. Weir was an avid sailor for more than 40 years. He was a member and past commodore of the Concord Yacht Club and successfully competed in numerous regattas in many classes of boats throughout the Southeast region. He was also instrumental in the early development of the sailing education programs at the club. Mr. Weir enjoyed acting with the Oak Ridge Playhouse and he was an avid singer with barbershop quartets in younger years. In keeping with Mr. Weir's wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007, at 6 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. She was transported by Lifestar air ambulance and died later that day. Mary recently moved from Oregon to East Tennessee to be near her parents who live in a retirement community in North Carolina. She joined the staff of the general accounting team of Marriott Hotels in December of last year. After serving for many years in executive accountant positions in New Mexico, California and Oregon, she returned to her native east Tennessee. Having been born in Johnson City, she had a connection with, and a passion for this region. She held undergraduate and graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and was a Certified Management Accountant and a member of the Institute of Management Accountants She is survived by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert J. Beil of North Carolina; and by aunts, Flora Jean Waite of Florida, and Betty Clements of Pennsylvania; and an uncle, James Beil and wife, Joan of New Jersey. Ritchie on Dec. 2, 1944, in Cambridge, Mass. Mrs. Ritchie traveled to many places in the course of her husband's work. She was an accomplished hostess while residing in the U.S. and abroad for the many scientists who visited the family. She lived with her family for extended periods in Denmark, in Cambridge, England, in Lexington, Ky., in Las Vegas, Nev., and for numerous shorter times in the Basque Country in North Central Spain. After returning from a stay in India, where she learned doll-making from the American Women's Club of Bombay, she organized a similar informal group who made dolls for the Oak Ridge Holiday Bureau for more than 20 years. She won many blue ribbons in flower arranging competitions, was a member of the Arissa Garden Club, studied art for years at the Oak Ridge Community Art Center, enjoyed painting, playing piano and organ, and was active in the First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge. She enjoyed doing volunteer work in the Pink Placebo at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge and at the Recording for the Blind for many years. Seiber, age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, Edward Louis Clark, 83, of Asheville, N.C., father of Oak Ridge business woman Bonnie Clark and founder of Clark's Copy Service, Inc., entered into rest on July 11, 2007. A multi-generation native of Western North Carolina, Edward Louis "Ed" Clark was an active businessman and sportsman throughout his life. He attended Mars Hill College and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy, Ed Clark attended Harvard University for a master's degree in business administration. For over 25 years, Ed Clark served as both the sales and general manager of the Clark-Fowler Cigar Company, a large wholesale and vending operations company serving all of Western North Carolina. Clark was also the treasurer and director of the Rollin' Pin Bakery, a successful Asheville retail baking and catering company. For many years, Clark served as the president and chairman of the board of Clark's Printing and Communication Service located in Westside Business Park. Clark was also the founder of Clark's Copy Service, Inc. in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Among his many civic activities, Ed Clark served as a director and chairman of the Legislative Committee for the North Carolina Wholesale Association. He served for several years as a member of the Mars Hill College Board of Advisors and as a director of the Asheville Y.M.C.A. An active Rotarian for many years, Mr. Clark was the president-elect and a director of the West Asheville Rotary Club as well as a Paul Harris Fellow. He also served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Asheville. Ed Clark was a member of Hominy Baptist Church, the church his parents helped to found. As a sportsman and horse breeder, Ed Clark served as a director of the North Carolina Horse Council. He was president of the North Carolina Thoroughbred Breeders Association and was twice awarded the coveted honor of being named Breeder of the Outstanding Thoroughbred Race Horse of the Year in North Carolina by this organization.     2. >From the Oak Ridger 11 Jul 2007 Eleanor Dewey, age 78, of Oak Ridge, Martha Verna "Ma" Earley, of Oak Ridge, Mary Eleanor McCluer LaVerne, of Oak Ridge, Dylan David Wood, 18, Lorene Seiber, age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, Eleanor Dewey, age 78, of Oak Ridge, passed away Monday, July 9, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Jack D. and Nelle Ruth Hix Childress. Eleanor and her husband, Fred J. Dewey Sr., moved to Oak Ridge in 1951. She was a machine operator with Pic-Aire Corporation and retired with them after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Glenwood Baptist Church, where she was very active in church activities. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Dewey Sr.; and brothers, Hugh D. Childress and Jack D. Childress. Mrs. Dewey is survived by her son, Fred J. Dewey Jr., of Oak Ridge; and daughter, Deborah Crumley and husband, James H. Crumley, of Morristown, Tenn. She was also survived by two brothers, Charles T. Childress and wife, Athleen, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Billy D. Childress and wife, Joyce, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; her grandchildren, William Crumley and wife, Megan, Jacqueline Crumley, and Alexander Crumley; and one great-grandchild, Leyton Crumley. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Glenwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Walton officiating. The graveside service will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and David Pitts of Knoxville; grandchildren, Micah and Raquel Bridges of Alexandria, Va., Sean and Jodi Pitts of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Carrieanne and Christian Behan of Gunnison, Colo.; a brother, Wayne Chastain, of Blue Ridge, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Eleanor McCluer LaVerne, of Oak Ridge, beloved wife of Melvin LaVerne, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at approximately 11:15 a.m., at the Briarcliff Health Care Center, Oak Ridge. She had recently celebrated her 91st birthday at home. Eleanor, as she preferred to be called, was the daughter of Henry Randolph McCluer and Mary McCluer, both now deceased, of 1819 Park Avenue, Parkersburg, W.Va. She is survived by her husband, Melvin; four sons, twins Andrew and Alan, David, and Douglas; four grandchildren, Andrea, Erica, Jesse, and Alyse; and three great-grandchildren, Stella, Emma, and Jade. Eleanor was an alumnus of Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio. She was a member of Chi Omega. During World War II, Eleanor spent a stint as Western Coordinator for the Services of Supply, a job calling for ingenuity and persistence. She later worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, editing technical reports. In the area, Eleanor was active in Oak Ridge incorporation in the 1950s and other political involvements. She was active in Smoky Mountain Sports Car Club autocrosses and rallies, in Oak Ridge Playhouse and Savoyards, on-stage and off, in Oak Ridge Chorus, and in Concord Yacht Club racing, cruising, and social activities. She was a member of Civil Air Patrol, civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force engaged in search and rescue and aerospace education. Her training included National Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. She rose to the rank of captain. She greatly enjoyed travel, having extensively visited the continental U.S., Europe, Canada, and Mexico. She also accompanied Mel to air shows and hang gliding training. She was a member of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, and had taught Sunday School even before Unitarianism and Universalism merged in 1961. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike, at stoplight No. 11. It will be conducted by ORUUC's minister, the Rev. Jake Morrill. Friends will be received between 3:15 and 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church are encouraged. Interment of Eleanor's ashes in the Church Memorial Garden will follow the memorial service. Family will provide brief music on the Caribbean steel drums. Dylan David Wood, 18, went to be with Jesus Sunday, July 8, 2007. Born in Providence, R.I., he was a son of Clark V. Wood, with whom he resided and Jane B. Pendergast Cassese of West Greenwich, and stepson of Henry A. Cassese and Elizabeth Blackmar. He resided in Glocester for most of his life and lived in Tennessee from 2002 to 2006. Dylan graduated from Clinton High School, Tenn., class of 2006, and was currently enrolled at CCRI in Warwick for computer science. He was employed at Weidele's Pizza in Sterling, Conn., for the past eight months. He enjoyed bike riding, paintball, basketball and sports in general. Dylan had a great sense of humor and loved hanging out and having fun with friends and family. He was the brother of Kyle N. Wood of Glocester and grandson of David and Diane Wood of Foster, Sylvia Pendergast of Connecticut, and the late George Pendergast. He leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins who will miss him dearly. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2007, at the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave. (Rt. 44), Greenville, R.I. Burial will be at Hopkins Mills Cemetery, Foster.     2. Gilbert Carroll, 80, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1997, at Mariner Health Care Center in Norris. Mr Carroll was a retired coal miner. Born July 1, 1916, in Scott County, he was the son of Perry Carroll and Kizzie Keathley Carroll. He had lived in the New River Community before moving to Oliver springs in 1960. Mr Carroll was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Oneda Carroll; five daughters, Iris D. Brown and her husband, ED Brown, of Harriman, Patricia Davis and her husband, Dennis Davis of Oliver Springs, Yvonne Tinker and her husband, Joe Tinker, of Rockwood, Julia Todd and her husband, Doug Todd , of Green Cove Springs, Fla. and Debra Sue Carroll and her husband, Tommy Carroll, of Acworth, Ga.; and three sons, Dennis Caroll and his wife, Euvenia Carroll, of Oak Ridge, and David Carroll and his wife Susie Carroll, and Richard Carroll and his wife, Christina Carroll, all of Woodstock, Ga. Mr. Carroll is also survived by three sisters, Christine Gaddis of Oliver Springs, Waudie Lowe of Oneida and Geraldine Daugherty of Clinton; and 28 grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren. Four other children, Ivelois Carroll, Jackie Ray Carroll , Shelia Gayle Carroll, and Jacqueline Carroll Davis, died earlier. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Genesis Hawkins officiating. Mrs. McWright was born Dec. 20, 1918, in Harriman to the late Elmer and Rose Dickey Weaver. A member of the West Village Christian Church, Mrs. McWright had been employed at Y-12 as a laboratory technician until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 390 here in Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by her first husband Woodrow Litton, son Gary W. Litton, and her brother Sam E. Hope, Mrs. McWright is survived by her husband, Cullen P. McWright of Oak Ridge; son, Douglas L. Litton of Marshville, N.C.; stepdaughters, Mary Jane Williams of Oak Ridge and Barbara Pruitt of Newark, Del.; brothers, Charles J. Hope of Oak Ridge and B.F. Lucile Nichols, our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, died July 8, 2007, on her 89th birthday from injuries received in an automobile accident on June 27, 2007. She was born in McMinn County and grew up in Knox County where she met the love of her life, Ray Nichols. They celebrated 73 years of marriage Oct. 28, 2006, and were recognized as the oldest living married couple in Monroe County. Lucile was preceded in death by infant son, James Richard Nichols; parents, Charles and Grace Webb of Kodak; brothers, Roy, Ray, and Earl Webb of Knoxville; and sister, Viola Webb of Athens. Lucile is survived by husband, Ray Nichols of Sweetwater; daughter and son-in-law, Erb and Frances Mowery of Clinton; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Anita Nichols of Knoxville, and Ted and Ruth Nichols of Sweetwater. Grandchildren are Kendra Hill of Athens, Kelly Nichols of Sweetwater, Vicki McKamey (Don) of Clinton, Robert Mowery (Carolyn) of Caryville, Donna McPheeters of Knoxville, Cindy Nichols of Knoxville, and Bobby Ray (Nick) Nichols (Cindy) of Knoxville, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Lucile was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for 56 years and dearly loved her church family. One of Lucile's greatest joys was cooking for her family. If she knew you were coming, your favorite food was on the table. Lucile was a master quilter who quilted wedding and baby quilts for every child, grandchild, great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flower, but loved her roses. Most of all, she loved her family, and they all knew it.
