In Oneida there is Tobe's motel w/ a restaurant its pretty nice. There is also a Holiday Inn thats fairly new about where you turn to go to the Doisey House. Also Parkway (I think) on new 27 there is a restaurant called Blue Herrin. Those are the ones I remember. In Whitley City there is The Whitley City Motel, its pretty nice w/ a restaurant with a great breakfast. An old friend of my Dad's owns it. The Oak Ridger 22 Aug 2007 Ruby Mae Carlton, 89, a resident of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at a Chattanooga hospital. A warm and loving individual, Ruby lived much of her life in Oak Ridge before returning to Cleveland 29 years ago. She attended North Cleveland Church of God and was active in the Women's Bible Study group prior to her illness. Ruby's priority was always her family. She carefully attended to them through the years, and her devotion was evident to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Carlton; daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Carlton; parents, Robert and Sloma Murray; and brothers, Harry Murray and C.L. Murray. She is survived by her son, Milton Eugene Carlton of Marietta, Ga.; two granddaughters and their spouses, Gina Ann and William Riggs of Woodstock, Ga., Dawn and Scott Morgan of Toccoa, Ga.; one grandson, Todd Carlton of Birmingham, Ala.; great grandchildren: Madison Morgan, Cole Morgan, Natalie Morgan, Chandler Riggs and Grayson Riggs; brothers: Forrest Murray, Ivan Murray and Lester (Gus) Murray, all of Cleveland, James Murray, Kenneth Murray and Carl Murray, all of Georgetown, and the Rev. Larry Murray of Ardmore, Okla.; sisters: Pauline Hammond of Chattanooga, Robbie Tucker of Kingston, Carolyn Beavers of Georgetown and Ruth Melton and Shirley Lowe of Cleveland. A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at North Cleveland Church of God with the Rev. Jack Smith, the Rev. Randy Eaton and the Rev. Larry Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Todd Carlton, William Riggs, Harrell Murray, Darrell Murray, Andy Smith and Richard Compton serving as pallbearers. Everett Floyd Gambill, 82, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born July 14, 1925, in Mountain Grove, Mo., the son of John Floyd Gambill and Mabel Horner Gambill. He received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Drury College of Springfield, Mo., in 1949 and received his master's in business administration from the University of Alabama in 1954. Mr. Gambill served as head of the Technical Services Division for Union Carbide at Y-12 for several years with responsibility for managing Quality Control, Statistical Services, Radiation Safety, and Nuclear Materials Accountability. After that he served as the Quality Assurance Manager for the Energy Systems Organization, which at that time included responsibilities at the three Oak Ridge sites and Paducah, Ky. He retired after 30 years in 1984. He was a longtime member of Oak Ridge Country Club and for years maintained a single digit golf handicap. He was an accomplished bridge player, attaining Life Master rank with the American Contract Bridge League. He also enjoyed bowling in his earlier years. He enjoyed music, particularly swing, classical and jazz. In his later years, he was a popular resident of The Estates of Oak Ridge. Mr. Gambill was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe with the U.S. Army 97th Infantry Division, 386th Regiment. After the war, he served in occupied Japan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 51 years, Sarah Martin Gambill; brother, Thomas Sylvester Gambill; and sister, Louise Gambill Neathery. He is survived by sons, Joseph Martin Gambill and wife, Lynn, of South Windsor, Conn., and James Thomas Gambill and wife, Allison Jay Aschman, of Ashburn, Va.; daughter, Jane Gambill and husband, James Coffman, of Boulder, Colo.; grandson, Gregory Gambill of South Windsor, Conn.; step-grandchildren, Matthew Coffman of Clarksville, Tenn., Ruth Coffman of Washington, D.C., and Deborah Coffman of Wooster, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and all his friends who have offered their love and support. William "Bill" Ramsey, age 69, of Oak Ridge, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007 with his family by his side. He served in the Reserve of the U.S. Marine Corps and was employed at Union Carbide/Martin Marietta for over 37 years from which he retired in March of 1996. A loving father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, traveling and riding his Harley- Davidson motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Elta Ramsey.
