    2. Marie...and others. How true! A prime example of mistranslation of names due to the 19th century writing style. My grandfather was named Travis (given name), but is often read as Francis, and sometimes as James. I find it helps to look at numerous examples of a given census taker's recordings as an aid to deciphering their recordings. Jim
