Does anyone on the list have access to the 1870 Census of Rutherford Co. TN. I'm trying to double check and make sure I have the listing right for Comfort Pittman & family who I believe is listed on page 298 and also for her son David Pittman who is listed in his own household on the same page. Comfort and her husband Daniel Pittman lived in Dekalb Co. TN in the 1850 & 1860 Census. I believe that Daniel must have passed on sometime between 1860 and 1870. I also believe that David (son of Daniel and Comfort) was in the Civil War ( prob. in Company A, 16th Tennessee Infantry Regiment) and that caused them for some reason to move to the Rutherford Co. Area. There is a Dave Pittman listed on Company A, 16th Tennessee Infantry Regiment's roster and it was made up of alot of men from the Dekalb Warren and Putnam Co. Area. In the 1870 Census which I'm trying to verify what I have written down shows Comfort living with her daughters Jane and Bettie,her son Lee, and Jane's children. I believe Jane married a man also named Pittman. In the 1880 Census I do not find Comfort but I find David back in Dekalb Co. TN. Where he lives until his death in Feb. of 1922. If anyone can check the 1870 Census on page 298 and tell me if the Pittman Households are there and who are in them I would really be grateful.
