My father, John Henry Wendel was born in 1885 on Fehmarn Island, Germany, and came to the US in 1910. My grandfather, his father, Matthewes Wendel, also born on the Island, and my grandmother, my father's mother, Anna von Rhein, born Husome, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
