    3. Nina, Lt. James Blythe Morton was a Lt. in the Rev. War, serving with the Charlotte Co., VA militia and was an ensign in the 4th VA regiment. The Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter, Daughters of the American Rev. honored his memory at a June 18, 1959 ceremony at which time a bronze plaque was placed on a commemorative stone at Rocky Fork on the old Smyrna Road about half way situated about half way between Nolensville and Smyrna, TN. He is buried in the family cemetery situated on top of a hill to the rear of the monument. Unfortunately someone stole the bronze plaque. I am not sure when he came to TN, but he died at the home place in 1808. War in NC. When does your James MORTON show up in Smyrna? By years, I have probably concluded that the James MORTON in the 1830 Anderson County census is the father of the following: David, born 1800 - NC Male child living with James in the 1830 census, born 1802 Thomas, born 1804 Mary Ann, born 1806 George, born 1808 Male child living with James in the 1830 census, born 1810 Female child living with James in the 1830 census, born 1812 Female child living with James in the 1830 census, born 1814 Female child living with James in the 1830 census, born 1818 David Morton (my gg-grandfather) lived on a farm with his wife, Nancy Catherine James nearby. Further, I believe that James above is the son of either John or James MORTON, son of Samuel Morton and Ann Holton Wallace Morton. After the 1830 census, James Morton disappears from Anderson County, so it's possible he moved on to one of the bordering counties or even further.
