Hi, there are several cemeteries in Rural Rutherford, and Cannon Counties that are kept up by descendents of families. Some were even left ignored for many, many years and have been fenced cleaned and partially restored. I am not sure about the tax. In the city of M'boro you pay city and county tax even though you live in the city. But I don't believe they would ever allow a portion of that tax to go towards small, private cemetery upkeep. It is sad how some cemeteries have just been left to strive and are in such bad shape. By the way I am researching the Reed, Rigsby, Womack, Anderson, Maxey, Young, Arnold and Brandon families of Cannon and Rutherford County. Claytie Reed Shipley
Claytie, Which Brandon are you descended from? Hi Catie, May I suggest,if you live in Rutherford Co,to ask your County council member or the county executive if they would. I never assume that a public official will do something,on their own initiative. Yet,if their voting public tell them, about this problem and suggest a cemetery tax ----- Original Message ----- From: <Cjojo49@aol.com> To: <TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 04, 2001 3:52 PM Subject: Re: [TNRUTHER] cemeteries > Hi, there are several cemeteries in Rural Rutherford, and Cannon Counties > that are kept up by descendents of families.
