DEMENT,CADER was born in 1777 in likely Bertie Co. NC. He died August 1848 in Rutherford Co. TN. His burial site has never been found. I would also like to know where he lived in Rutherford Co. TN. He served in the War of 1812, a 3rd Lt. in Capt. James Guilt's Co. of the 2 Reg.'t TN Militia (Cocke's) He first married Agnes SMITH DOUGLAS in 1798; was she Mrs. DOUGLAS? They had 9 children including a son named Abraham Smith DEMENT. After her death, Cader 2nd married Mary M. ANDREWS in 1821. They had one son, Joseph Andrews Dement b. 1823. Cader 3rd married Frances HALL in 1824 Williamson Co. TN. It has been said that she was from Carthage, Smith Co. TN. They had three children: Dr. David Hall Dement, Susan C. Dement, and Wilson Yandell Dement. These 3 children went to Yazoo Co. MS. I cannot find Frances DEMENT or these last 3 children on any 1850 census. After Cader, Frances rec'd a slave named Flora to care for her. The remaining 21 slaves were sold. Frances was said to have an unstable mind when Cader died but who was she living with in 1850??? Of course, the DEMENT name is easily misspelled as DAMENT,DEMINT,DIMENT,DEUINT etc. Any suggestions are appreciated...I have hit a brick wall!
