Mari: Could you please take a look and see if there are any McElroys listed? I know my Adam C. McElroy served in the War of 1812 (from Virginia) -- and possibly the Samuel McElroy who settled near Fosterville? Something I've been meaning to ask... is there a list compiled somewhere of the Tennessee land that was given as bounty to the men who served in the War of 1812? I suspect that may be why Adam & his family left Virginia for Tennesee in 1814, but have never found any records (yet!) LaVerne

Remember that at that time (1812) what is now TN was part of North Carolina and I think that only N. Carolinians were granted bounty lands in what is now TN.
