I've hit a brick wall-ANY ideas or suggestions? The family oral history states that the following family landed at Wilmington, NC from Londonderry ca. 1755/65. I haven't had any luck trying to find a record of them in either place/time: The family I'm searching for PRONOUNCED their name "McQuary" until 1910. I've found records for them listed as "McCrary" and "McCreary" in Rutherford, TN and in Texas (first names John b. 1792, Arthur b.1820 and John b.1854). They may be related to Arthur McCrery of Abbeville, SC (1790 census & Abbeville church records), but haven't found a link. Also, if their are any Gaelic students out there, I would love to hear some opinions on a possible clan origin of the name as it was pronounced by my ancestors prior to 1910. Thank you kindly for any ideas/info. Elise Hoffman
