James Blythe MORTON was b. in 1756 in Charlotte County, VA. d. 1808, Rutherford Co., TN. He served as a Lt. with the Charlotte Co., VA militia and was an ensign in the 4th VA regiment during the Revolutionary war. Somewhere I have a note that says that he was in prison in Charleston, SC for three years of the war. (My gold is to get everything together!). He married Catherine(Kitty Wells) in 1776. She was b. 1758. Lt. James Blythe Morton and Kitty Wells had the following children: 1.) James Wilson Morton(my 3rd great grandfather). He was b. Nov. 25, 1785 in Rutherford Co., TN. d. April 10, 1843. He married Nancy Newsom b. 1789; d. Jan. 26, 1869 in Rutherford Co., TN. They were married in Davidson Co., TN in 1808. 2.) Judieth Morton m. an Edwards-later-Nelson 3.)Lucinda Morton m. William B. Newsom 4,) Sarah (Sally)Morton m. Colonel William Searcy 5.)Tabitha Morton m. John Lytle 6.)Joseph Morton m.Cecelia C.
