Robert Overall is supposed to be buried in a small overgrown cemetery, near the old Overall Homeplace, near Milton, TN. (Rutherford Co.). See a pic of the house at....... http://www.cafes.net/jlewis/Overall.gif This cemetery is commonly called the Patterson Cemetery, as the Overall homeplace was bought by the Patterson Family in later years, and some of their family is buried there. The cedar log house was still standing a couple of years ago, and I assume is still standing. It was being used for hay storage, when we visited the place. He was quite a character, according to some accounts. Somewhat of a "hothead", who was very different from most of his brothers who were Methodist Ministers or leaders in the Methodist Church. He was a War of 1812 Vet. and a friend of Andy Jackson, who, being a lawyer, offered to defend Robert in court (no charge) Robert (b.6/11/1785 d.10/08/1862) has no T'Stone, that we could find, but his wife (and cousin) Mary Espy Overall (b.1782 d.12/24/1838) does have a tombstone in the cemetery. After Mary's death, Robert continued to live at the homeplace, until his death in 1862. A widowed daughter and her children, lived there with him. Family tradition has him buried there, and as I recall, there is a fieldstone marker, alongside her grave. Probably his marker. -- Jess Lewis >> http://www.cafes.net/jlewis/ << >> http://www.cafes.net/jlewis/cannon.htm <<
