I have quite a puzzle here trying to find out which Isham Reese/Reece may be the right one for my family. It is clear from tax records that the Isham Reese b. 1748 is not the same as the one born in 1732 or 34. The one born in 1732 married Susannah Coleman and died in Georgia. The one born in 1748 lived near William Elder, who married Mary Towler. Mary's sister, Martha Towler married John Reece. These women were both daughter of Benjamin Towler and Martha Darby. Benjamin went from Dinwiddie Co., VA; to Rutherford Co., TN; and then Gibson Co., TN, where he died. Now, I think that this Isham Reece, born in 1748 is probably the father of the John Reece that married Martha Towler. Many people have files that show he and the one born in 1732 to be the same person. Again, tax records prove that there were definitely two Isham Reeses. If anyone can help with this, please advise. This is my brick wall, which I feel we are almost able to crawl over the top of!!! I have proven the Martha Towler and John Reece are my 3g-grandparents. This is why I feel that the Isham, born in 1748 is most likely ours too, but I have yet to prove it. Another problem is the lack of marriage records for Dinwiddie Co. in those years. Oh, another point, John Reece, the elder, married to Martha Towler, and his second wife went on to Rutherford Co., TN. There was an Isham Reece also in Rutherford Co., TN, but he seemed to drop from the face of the earth, before his heirs moved on up to Carroll and Gibson Co., where Benjamin Towler also went. Thanks in advance! Jerry Johnston
This is a bit odd but there is a Wayne Isham who directs music videos in Nashville. Dunno if there is any connection but it isn't a name you see every day so he might be.
