Hello, I am Ginger Rogers and I've been researching the Wood families in Rutherford Co., TN and surrounding counties in Middle Tennesee. Thomas Wood was born ca. 1750 in VA. He may have married a woman named Judy (maiden name unknown) - as the 1830 census of Rutherford Co., TN lists a Judy Wood living near some of the children of Thomas Wood. He had 5 children all born in VA: 1. Edmund Wood b. ca. 1776 - (possibly married to Elizabeth Johns?) 2. John Wood - b.ca. 1777- possibly married a "Michael" (aka Meeker, Mitchel) 3. Thomas Wood, Jr. - b.ca. 1780/3, died before 1830 - possibly married to Sallie Arnold in Prince Edward Co., VA. 4. Robert Wood -b.ca.1781 VA, married Elizabeth Hurt in Prince Edward Co., VA. 5. Elizabeth Wood - b. ca.1785 married John Lewis Harris Arnold. Thomas Wood. Sr. moved to Rutherford Co., TN in mid-late 1810s - where he died 1828/1830. His children moved to Rutherford Co., TN also - except Thomas Wood, Jr. is believed to have died in VA before 1830. Many of their descendants were found in the middle TN counties of Rutherford Co., Cannon Co.. Madison Co. and Gibson Co. Some branches moved to northeast Arkansas, settling in Independence Co., AR and Green Co., AR. Other surnames associated with this family include: Arnold, Beasley, Grimes, Hall, Hoskins, Hurt, Ivey, Johns, Keith, Nash, Overall, Smotherman, Sudberry, and Winsett.
