My line of Pattersons mostly lived in Wilson Co TN but came from NC in early 1800's. There are some James in our line but don't know the dates of birth of one born in Wake Co NC in late 1700's. But some of our Pattersons did go to Shelby Co IL too around 1835 or so. This James Patterson was the son of Smith Patterson b. 1720 who is son of my ggggg-grandfather.
