Patsy Paterson-- Don't know if our James are the same or not but my GGGG GM was Nancy R. James Phillips. She was the dau of Cary James, Sr, a Methodist Preacher and his wife Martha Claiborne James. Widowed in 1805, she came to Rutherford Co. ca 1818 (purch land june 1818 in RU) with 3 of her 4 children, Several of her siblings came with her from Brunswick Co., VA incl Cary James, Jr. I have some estate data etc, regarding some of the James family if you need it.
