Hi There and Happy New Year, I am looking at a brick wall. M.R. (also, aka Mack) Massey married Bettie Jones (or aka last name James-difficult to read the 1916 birth of a daughter) about 1906. One boy, John, born about 1907 (age 2 in 1910 census) died before 1916. Another boy, James, born about 1911 (is "8" in 1920 census). Have 1916 birth certificate of Ellen Elizabeth Massey , Davidson County 15 May 1916. The 1916 address was Rains Ave, Nashville (Davidson County). In 1928 this address seems to be residence of Jas K Jones, a grocer, and Willie Jones. Also, 1928 nextdoor Moses R. Hunter and Jenniel Hunter. (Moses may have married a Lucinda before 1900.) M. R. Massey, age 28 (in 1916) and Bettie Jones age 25 (in 1916) - Likely there was a twin brother to Ellen Elizabeth, probable early death (1916-1919). The 1910 census lists Mack and Bettie Massey renting with son John (probably deceased before 1916). Son, James, born 1911-12 still with Mack, Bettie, James, and Ellen in Davidson County 1920 Census on Lancassas Pike at Chicken Pike (Syrmna in Davidson County?). Also 1920 listed Mack's father (or Bettie's) living with them as - a nightwatchman for city of Nashville age 92 (OK maybe it's 72 but the "9" seems clear). I am trying to construct their accurate names and lineage before - and after. Longshot or cousins M.R. Massey may be alias for Samuel McIntosh Massey born 1865 Leake County, MS - Bettie may be Elizabeth Josephine Tholerus Massey b. Tallahatchie County MS in1881 age 19 (1900) m. Sam age 35 (1900) 1900 in Tallahatchie County MS. M.R./Mack Massey may be Samuel or even Samuel's son by a first marriage earlier than the 1900 marriage to Elizabeth Tholerus.
