My Adam Calhoun McELROY & wife Jane CUNNINGHAM moved to Rutherford Co. from Prince Edward Co. VA in 1814 - their son Matthew Lile McElroy married Minerva Jane WITHERSPOON in Rutherford Co. 1837. Minerva Jane was daughter of Joseph Witherspoon/Jane BOND. Jane Bond was daughter of William Bond/Frances (probably WINFREY) who lived in KY just north of the TN/KY state line. My SUMMERS ancestor was William Summers b. 1817, son of William Sr. and wife Ellender - and was grandson of George SUMMERS/Malinda who were originally from Prince Georges Co. MD and then Iredell Co. NC before coming to Rutherford Co. William (b 1817) married Elizabeth Isabell YOUREE, daughter of James YOUREE and an unknown first wife (Elizabeth Isabell was born before James' marriage 1822 to Dorothy Hardeman and is listed as one of James' heirs in land records). James Youree was the son of Francis Youree/Elizabeth who were in Mecklenburg Co. NC before moving to Rutherford Co. sometime around 1800. Will be more than happy to share what I have (including confusion!) with anyone else researching these or related families .... Summers were connected through marriage several times with JACOBS, LOWE and others from Iredell Co. NC. Yourees seem to have been related to PORTERS & HARTS. LaVerne
