Mari- I have run across a bunch of Barfields in 1700's in Isle of Wight, Southampton and Surry Couties in Virginia in researching my Phillips line in VA. My GGGG GF, William Phillips died abt. 1805 in Brunswick Co, VA . His widow, my GGGG GM, was Nancy James Phillips. In 1812 she and some of her James siblings came to RU Co, TN along with 3 of her 4 children. My GGG GF, Wm. J. Phillips was one of the 3 and he m. Mary A. Ross in RU Co. in 1831. A son, John L. m. 1.) Lockey Crawford in RU and after she died 2.)a Verginia Rucker. Phillips migrated on from Ru to Gibson Co. in 1860's and 70's. So did some of the James family. Mari- I am heading out of town right now, my Bro-In-Law passed away. When we get back I will look up some info and send. I remember a Thomas Barfield who lived close to some Phillips and I think witnessed some land deeds of each other but will have to look to make sure. I do know that there were several Barfields in the area and I think I found a site that was mostly Barfields.
