Hello Paul, Thanks for your reply. Haven't gotten many on this line so I really appreciate it. I've never heard of the book and have no idea as to it's contents or how to find it but it sounds tantalizing. Have you seen it? I'm sorry that ,at this time, I can't confirm a connection to the people you mentioned as Lyfus and Sarah are the only names I know going backward. I have their children and forward from there, but backward is what we need, of course. It would be nice if the people you mentioned are the same bunch as you are the only one who has suggested a name for Lyfus' father. Do you have any more information on John and Sallie; where they were born etc. Lyfus and Sarah ended up in Illinois. They were married in Rutherford County Tennessee in 1850 but by 1860 they were in Jackson County Illinois I think it was. It took forever to find them on the 1870 census but they finally showed up in Missouri then back to Perry County Illinois by the 1880 census and that is where they stayed. Each census lists his state of birth as Virginia but I have no idea as to when he came to Tennessee, if his parents came too or if he was already an adult etc. Still have a lot of hunting to do huh. :-) Anxious to know where John was born. Hi Norma- On the run at the moment but promise to get back to you. I do not think I have any additional info on John or Sallie Shelton. But, I will look further. It will benefit me to do so and hopefully you also.
