It's that time again. Send in those names. Teresa Ghee Elliott
roll call surnames - Davis and Thurman. Does anyone know of a Samuel Davis who was old enough to own land in 1856? The Civil War Sam Davis (who was hung for being a spy) was too young - he was born in 1842 and would have only been 14 in 1856. Any of his relatives? Uncles? I understand that the father of Sam Davis of Civil War fame was Charles Lewis Davis. Anyone know who Charles Lewis Davis' father was? Or know someone researching this family? Dickson/Roach(e)
I'm looking for the parents of Matthew Wilson Bowling, born 1818 somewhere in Virginia, moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee probably in the 1920's. He was married twice, first to Susan Yardley (Jan. 1, 1842) then to Nancy Sanders (Nov. 19, 1863)....this is my line. I have reason to believe that James Bowling, born 1815 somewhere in Virginia, died 1868 in Tennessee was a brother to my Matthew...so if anyone is researching this line I would like to know what information you might have on James' parents. Thanks for any help you can give me. Beth B
