Adam Calhoun McElroy (b 1779) and Jane Cunningham moved to Rutherford Co. from Virginia about 1815 and settled in what became Yourees District. They were the parents of Matthew Lile McElroy who married Minerva Jane Witherspoon (dau of Joseph Witherspoon/Jane Bond) and eventually moved their family to Ellis County TX in 1856. I am also interested in the Samuel McElroy/Martha (McCamey?) family who were in Fosterville area and have pieced together census and other info on several of their descendants which I'll be happy to share. Elizabeth Isabell Youree was born Nov 1820 and was the daughter of James Youree and an unknown first wife (second wife was Dorothy Hardeman). She married William Summers (b 1817) in 1838 and in 1849, they moved to Cherokee County, TX along with several of their relatives and neighbors. William was the son of William Summers/Eleanor and grandson of George Summers/Malinda I have bits and pieces of information on all of these families which I'll be happy to share - but missing huge pieces of the puzzle - such as maiden names for the Summers grandmas (Malinda and Eleanor/Ellender) and the name of the first wife of James Youree - possibly Elizabeth Lowe? LaVerne
Hello Everyone: I am interested in YOUREE FIELDS and JAMES SMITH WHO MARRIED CORA REYNOLDS IN about 1868 in the Tennessee area, maybe Nashville, they had a son ERNEST CLAYTON SMITH born about 1893 or so? Thanks Billie a grandma in Ohio now.

roll call surnames - Davis and Thurman. Does anyone know of a Samuel Davis who was old enough to own land in 1856? The Civil War Sam Davis (who was hung for being a spy) was too young - he was born in 1842 and would have only been 14 in 1856. Any of his relatives? Uncles? I understand that the father of Sam Davis of Civil War fame was Charles Lewis Davis. Anyone know who Charles Lewis Davis' father was? Or know someone researching this family? I am looking to find Joel Ferguson (all spellings), b 1755-1785, in the 1810 census. I've found him in Wake Co, NC in 1800 and in Rutherford Co, TN in 1820, but have been unable to locate him in 1810. Appreciate any help! No, I hadn't heard that. However, in the past there have been rumors about that cemetery because of its location. Lemme see what i can find out tomorrow. I'll be down there. That is really interesting...I think it would be awful but on the other hand..wouldn't it be safer behind that high fence we love to climb? Mari At 08:02 PM 10/10/2006, you wrote: >That's the one! Yes, Thanks Mari, I am not spamming, I am trying to determine why my emails are not coming back to me. I appreciate the patience. If you have HTML in your signature line, you will probably have the same problem I am having, so you might want to edit your signature lines. That's the one! It is hard to see! I live in Smyrna (on the LaVergne side!) but I work in Murfreesboro. We should get together...I would love to climb the fence at the City Cemetery! I can't ever find anybody to go over there with me! Have you heard the rumors about the city wanting to move the Lytle Cemetery (the one by Haynes Lumber) and move it to the City Cemetery?
