Someone told me that my Jacob Hall Sr. had brothers as well as sons and daughters that moved from NC to Rutherford County, TN. MY previous Email was full of errors. Charles W. Phillips was born Dec. 1860. He and Eliz. married in 1883. The Eliz. Toliver who was in the 1880 Census was listed as age 10 but I fugure the info was given by one of the Cooley adults and he/she may have just guessed at the age. Pat- This is a long shot but have no where to turn. My G GF Charles W. Phillips was born in Rutherford Co. Dec. 1869. The Phillips family migrated to Gibson Co., some in the 1860's and some in the 1870's. In 1880 Chas . was working on a farm in Humphrey Co. and in 1863 he married an Elizabeth Toliver in Humphrey Co. The only Toliver I could find in Humphreys Co. was a girl living with a Cooley family in Humphrey Co in 1880 (no relation was signified in the census so assume she was working there). Elizabeth was born in July of 1867 according to the 1900 census in Clay Co., TX. I know several RU county people moved to Gibson and other western counties and wondered if it was possible that Elizabeth could be from your Tolivers. Now that we finally have things worked out where I can post, I'd like some help on these families, please: These records could be in Coffee or Cannon County since the property was on the corner on the county lines. Douglas: Bryant (Briant) Douglas b. About 1811 in TN. Died about 1891 in Rutherford County, TN. Summers: Davidson Summers b. 1827 in Rutherford County, TN. He was the son of Thomas Summers and Mary unknown. He married Mary Ann Howland, Jul 25, 1848 in Rutherford, TN. They had seven children the youngest of which is my gr great grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Summers who married B Henderson Douglas, Feb 29,1872 in Rutherford, TN. Tolliver (Toliver): William, born 1825, died Apr 1894 in Donnel's Chapel, Rutherford, TN. He married Elizabeth Collier, Oct, 04, 1855 in Rutherford County, TN They had six children, the youngest of these is my grandmother, Lucy Talent Tolliver, born Jan. 6, 1876 in Rutherford, TN. I thought I had these ancestors correct until my cousin came into possession of an old trunk containing letters which made a liar out of me. I would appreciate any help on these families. Some of the Jetton family and Kelton family traveled from N.Carolina to Rutherford together and there were several marriages between these two families. The book "My People the Keltons" by Lorene Kelton Petersen is available for free download at the BYU Harold B. Lee library site. Not only did I get some good info on my ancestors (White, Jetton, Lowe, Kelton)it also has some Rutherford history.
