Heather, I have two Henry RUTHERFORD, Sr. & Jr. Sr. m. Ruth Hines in 1927 Limeston Co., TX. Glenna (Glosard@msn.com) ----- Original Message ----- From: Heather Sent: Saturday, March 24, 2001 8:08 PM To: TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNRUTHER] ROLL Call I'm researching the Bass, Rutherford, and Crawford families in Rutherford and surrounding counties. John James Bass, born about 1761 in Virginia, probably Brunswick County, died 3 Mar 1826 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He married Temperance Jordan and they had seven children: Thomas, Benjamin Jordan, Temperance Weston, Nancy S., James A., Mary Clarke, and Hartwell. As far as I can tell, all the Bass families in the area at the time are related. Henry Rutherford, born 17 Aug 1762 in Rowan County, North Carolina, died 20 May 1847 in Lauderdale County, Tennessee. He was the son of Griffith Rutherford and Mary Elizabeth Graham. His daughter, Elizabeth Rutherford, married John Crawford. Heather __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? What makes me believe it can be done is the excellent job done by Tim and Helen Marsh in Bedford County. I have been told of two or three "newly discovered" cemeteries, but when I go copy the stones and come home and look in the book, they are already there! Not that I have copied many stones. I like libraries and courthouses ever so much better than graveyards. This was a terrific effort. Even so, some burials were left out. I found a few burials not listed in these publications (probably because of the briars). These were on a private cemetery on a Daniel farm at Readyville and sent these to the Hist Society (in case they ever reprint). To put all the burials in one book and THEN put it on line...sounds like a dream come true! Sure hope it comes to fruition. I live in Texas and we have numerous counties that have not attempted EVEN ONCE to survey ALL the burials in an entire county. Most times, you have to use many books for one county, each book indexing just one cemetery (knowing all the while, that every cemetery has not yet been indexed). Joyce, Burleson, Tx

May not be important, however, my WINSTON family was involved in both the MASSIE (that's how they spelled it) and JONES families in VA, and then in AL. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find wills of Rutherford County after 1900. Are they located in the courthouse or in the library? I have benn to Rutherford Co to do research but have not looked for wills. Thanks Ann
Marie, Do you know if any of your Bowlings were in Rutherford co.,Tennessee? I am looking for Bowling coming from Bowling Green KY to TN Thanks for your note All the best. Breck
The Bowlings I have were in the Dekalb Co area (maybe even Warren Co.) They came from Virginia so it is possible they migrated to that part of Kentucky and decided to go south a bit. Wish I knew a bit more about the migration routes. I will check thru my records and see if Bowling Green location ever comes up but I don't recall it Thanks Marie C. I'm researching Alexanders in Rutherford. My grandfather was Robert Louis Alexander who married Molly Angeline Mankin in Rutherford County 2-21-1890. His father was James Angus "Pinkney" Alexander and his mother was Martha Howland. I'm finding the Primm discussion interesting also because my grandfather's first name was Primm and I'm wondering if he was possibly named for a member of that family, since his name was so unusual.
