Hi, Just read the article on Cannon Cemetary. Does anyone know about John Sharp Rev War Vet??? What Militia was he in from where? Thanks! Teri
I read the article in the Nashville Tennessean and was appalled, that people were perceived to be too occupied,to care about neglected cemeteries. I also read in the Maury Co,Tn section, where a St John's Episcopal Church and Cemetery, was also damage,to the estimate of about $100,000. My solution to neglected cemeteries,is for Rutherford Co,to pass a small cemetery tax. The tax revenue could be use to mow these small cemeteries. I also noticed that the next County Government meeting is this coming Monday. Union County,Illinois did this in the 1970's re their neglected graveyards and believe it worked, fine. As family researchers,if we do not come up with a solution, then the problem is not solved. Kevin Kelly,St Louis
Anyone with relatives buried in Cannon Cemetery, ought to go to above link and read the article. Kevin Kelly,St Louis
The following is a message which was put out by Nancy Trice, Kentucky State Coordinator of the KyGenWeb, in regard to viruses. It was in response to the current hoax making the rounds. Mary Louise "I have put up a file on the KyGenWeb page with links to sites that these things can be checked out before being forwarded to everyone in your address books. Always check it first. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/hoax.html "
Hi I am trying to find out about the LANTON family who is listed on teh 1850 Rutherford co TN cnesus. They were later listed as LANTERN in the 1860. This family is listed as mulatto. There was a Henry Lanton with son joseph b. 1842 that I am curious about, as I am looking for a Henry LANTRUM with son Joseph b. 1842. My Joseph was listed as white on the 1870 census but on his pension app he was listed with dark complexion. since this name varies from census to census, I wondered if this could be him. My Henry lantrum;s wife was mary Devault. There was also a Mary LANTON who died in 1850 rutherford co tn and this Henry was listed without a wife in 1850. Antoher reason he could be who I am looking for. Henry Lantern married Lucretia COLLINS in 1851 Rutherford co TN but cannot find them after that. Any leads on any of these people would be greatly appreciated. Following is alist of the census info on 1850 rutherford born tn unless specified...... IF you get the following email DO NOT, repeat DO NOT do what it tells you to do. It is a hoax, and the file in question runs your Windows File System and it will cause your computer to become erratic. I hope that I caught everyone before they did this. Joel Mullins who died in 1835, died in Rutherford County. rpr
Posted on: Rutherford Co. Tn Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tn/Rutherford/10482 Surname: Mullins, Reed ------------------------- Can you tell me anything more about your ggg-grandfather, Joel Mullins? I am looking for a Joel Mullins (my ggg-grandfather) who was born in Virginia about 1772 and died in Lincoln County sometime after the 1850 census (where he last shows-up). Because he would have been in the right age range to marry Silvy Reed in 1827, I've considered her husband a possible (but doubtful) candidate for being my Joel. Rutherford County isn't a likely place for him to have been at that time. I would greatly appreciate any additional info you can provide.
I'm interested in information about the history of Halls Hill, Rutherford Co., TN. Melissa
Marie, Thanks you for the census listings. Very interesting. Bill

He should be over 50. He was the father of Elizabeth, Henrietta and Walter and brother of William and Charles. He died about 1836. Believe the Walter in the 1830 census is Junior, a grandson. Thank you, Bill Landers Cape Cod, MA

Marie, Thanks again, looks like William is my man! I had it narrowed down to 2 possibilities once before. You're doing a great job. Jim Lowe
