    2. Thomas P. and Lucretia Rogers Cooper had a son named John B. Cooper. Could this be the one you are seeking? I think he was in Nashville in 1880 and that I was not able to find him after that. William was born 19 Feb 1786 in NC. He had seven sons, not necessarily by Isabella. Six are known to me: ALBERT, JOHN, ANDERSON, WILLIAM E, SAMUEL P, and ENOCH J. Who was the seventh son? He had at least one daughter, Peggy. Who did she marry? Was it Washington McPeak? And what was his relationship to DARLING JONES, who witnessed a bill of sale from Robert Hunter to William on 13 Feb 1841?

    1. [TNRUTHER] Surname:REED in early 1800s
    2. I haven’t posted for awhile. I am looking for information, connections, etc. on Jesse REED, my ggggrandfather. I believe he was the Jessee REED (line.268) of 1830 Rutherford Co TN census. I haven’t been able to pinpoint him in the 1840 census though. According to information I have he was born in around 1788 in VA. He married Mary Fagon and I know that they had 2 sons—Burton L. (b. abt.1824, TN) and Jessee L. (born about 1833, TN). In 1850, Jesse and Burton show up in the Marshall Co. KY census. But, I also found a couple of other REED families who migrated to KY at about the same time that my REED line did. 1) Lemuel REED (b. abt 1822 in TN) with his wife Margaret (b, around 1820, TN) and a daughter, Mary J., born in around 1848, KY. ( Because of some previous e-mail contacts -I don’t have them with me at this moment-, it is believed that Jesse had a brother named Lemuel. So could Jesse have had a son he named Lemuel? 2) William W. Reed (b. about 1823, TN) and his wife, Seberry (born abt. 1830, TN). They had one son, Richard F. born in TN in about 1845. I may be grasping at straws, but I wonder if he was also a possible brother to Burton Reed? Burton REED, my gggrandfather, married a Sarah C. JOURDAN/JORDAN in the early 1840s. I don’t know where though. Was there a JORDAN family in Rutherford Co with the following members: Elizabeth Jordan, born around 1801 in SC; James F., born around 1833 in TN, and Josiah " , born around 1840, also in TN Was this the mother of Sarah C. JORDAN-REED? My first website listed below has the descendants of my Jessey REED. If anyone has any other information and/or corrections, please feel free to contact me. If you need any help this summer subscribing or unsubscribing, just let me know. It may take a few days for me to get with you from time to time, since we travel alot. My brother is doing better, although he has got a little sinus congestion right now. We try to get home as much as we can to relieve my parents. But I do take the laptop, so I do know what's going on here. :) And we have to go to several cemetery cleanings during the summer months. My in-laws wish I would quit finding family. <g> Have a great summer. Spend some of the time in the coolness of your local library or archives. IF anyone has any family reunions coming up, that they want to advertise, I will gladly add them to our taglines. They will show up about every 8-10 emails. Just send me the information, and I will gladly make you a tag line. Also if you have any books that you will be willing to do lookups in, I will add you to a tag line for as long as I have extras. Just let me know what books you have and your contact information. (Emails only please) Teresa Ghee Elliott TNRUTHER-L@rootsweb.com List Owner

    1. [TNRUTHER] PITTMAN
    2. If you can help send an email to Marie at rmbeckman@mindspring.com Hello everyone, I have a Pittman line which lived in Dekalb Co. TN in 1850 & 1860 but for some reason this couple(actually just the mother whom I believed to be widowed) and their son David's family were living in Rutherford Co. TN in the 1870 census(page 298). Here is a bit of background on the Pittman couple Daniel Pittman was born sometime between 1803-1815 in North Carolina. He married a girl named Comfort(last name unknown) who was from Kentucky(according to census records). This couple was in Alabama sometime between 1837-1841 as they had children born there(from state of birth listing in census records). Their oldest son David Pittman(.1837-1922)) was my gr gr grandfather. He married Mary D. F. Adcock(1842-1903) in 1859(she was from Dekalb Co. TN) Apparently Daniel Pittman passed on sometime between 1860-1870 as he does not appear in the census records any more after this time. By the 1880 census David & Mary are back in Dekalb Co. TN. I'm not sure if Comfort Pittman had passed away between 1870-1880 as I've not found her in the census records during that time. If anyone has any info on where Daniel & Comfort Pittman are buried I'd really be glad to hear it. I've not been able to narrow down the area of NC where Daniel was from. I do know that David and Mary are buried in the Young Bend Cem. in Dekalb Co. TN with no trace of Daniel or Comfort there. Two more concerns I have 1. The similiarity of the name David & Daniel when they are written in cursive. 2. Spelling variations of Pittman/Pitman/Pitmon etc. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marie C. Beckman http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rmbeckman/index.html
